'The Event' could live on at Syfy: Is this the canceled 2010/11 series you want more of?
Nearly three weeks after NBC formally canceled its freshman science fiction thriller, "The Event," it now appears that the show might not be completely dead after all.
Deadline reports NBC sister network Syfy is currently in talks to resuscitate it as a miniseries -- and possibly add on another season if the mini performs well.
There's still a lot to consider for the network and producers at Universal Media Studios. A move to Syfy would greatly decrease the budget, and every day the show stays dead, the more cast members enter commitments to other opportunities.
Plot-wise, the series does have a lot of loose ends to tie. The Season 1 finale explained what "the event" was, carefully mentioning that it hasn't actually happened yet. But there's a more important thing to consider here: Is this really the felled show from the last season we want to see get a pardon from the proverbial governor?
"The Event" never really rocked in the ratings, and though it went out on a comparatively high note, it still only averaged 4.57 million viewers and a 1.5 in the adults 18-49 demo.
And was "The Event" ever actually that... good? Even by sci-fi standards, the story seemed frazzled and contrived. We can think of a handful of stronger, better performing canceled series -- just not ones that would fit on Syfy.
Are you still interested in actually seeing "The Event's" event?

They should have saved their own show, Stargate Universe. Or Flash Forward from last year.
Human Target is the one to save, not The Event
I'd rather see V renewed, the Event was OK but V had the potential to really turn into something spectacular!
I agree, definitely rather have V renewed.
Why is every complicated show canceled because of the ratings?! Shows like this shouldn't be canceled just because it's too complicated for some people, who rather watch reality crap?!
It's a great show, and so were „Flash Forward“ and „Lost“ etc.
If the networks produce series with gigantic story archs, then they should know what the ratings will be! ...and continue with the show at least one more year! I hate programming for ratings!
Yesss!! I hope it is true that The Event goes to SYFY!!! I need to see more!!!
I liked the event but would much rather see V saved
Bring back Buffy, Victoria Mars, and the 4400 and then we can talk about the Event.
This is great news. The Event was an awesome show that had lots of story left to tell. Hopefully they'll get to do it on SyFy.
I think it came into it's own at the end. I would love for it to be given at least one more shot.
