'Supernatural' Season 7: Colin Ford to return as young Sam, directed by Jensen Ackles
We always love a peek into our favorite characters' pasts, so we're going to just go ahead and call this excellent news."Supernatural" begins production on Season 7 in Vancouver in early July -- and reps confirm to Zap2it exclusively that Colin Ford, one of our favorite recurring guest stars, will be returning as young Sam Winchester for the third episode, tentatively titled "The Girl Next Door."
Brock Kelly, who played opposite Ford as young Dean Winchester, is on deck to return for Season 7 as well. Though contracts have not been officially signed, Kelly's reps confirm to Zap2it, "There is a strong possibility that he will return."
UPDATE: Warner Bros. tells Zap2it that Kelly will not be appearing in episode 703. Reps for Kelly tell us that he is in discussions for future episodes.
We're told that the episode involves Sam (Jared Padalecki) having flashbacks to when he was 15 years old, when a girl named Amy saved his life and tried to convince him to run away with her.
In the present day, Sam and Amy meet again, and he finds that she's settled into a "normal" life with a son and a steady job.
The episode, expected to air on October 7, is to be directed by series star Jensen Ackles. It will be the first episode of Season 7 filmed, in order for Ackles to have sufficient prep time. Ackles previously directed fan favorite episode "Weekend at Bobby's" in Season 6.
Ford first appeared as young Sam in Season 3's "A Very Supernatural Christmas." He returned in Season 4's "After School Special" and "When The Levee Breaks," and Season 5's "Dark Side of the Moon." The 14-year-old actor has an impressive resume which includes roles on "Hawaii Five-0," "CSI: Miami," and "Family Guy."

Seriously can not wait to see Brock and Colin back and not only see Jensen direct them but to get a Jared ep to direct too, that's what I wanted to see when he had his first shot last season so i can not wait for this. Sounds perfect.
i agree..this is great news!! i have to say i'm exited for this episode..i wonder how sam and amy meet up again...
ok, that was supposed to be "excited"...
This is tasty news - and the kind of "spoiler" I don't mind learning. Thanks, Carina!
Love that Jensen will direct a Sam episode. This should be very Cool
A Sam-centric episode with Jensen directing?! That sounds absolutely amazing! Can't wait!
I hope this girl isn't Lisa 2.0, but for Sam this time. I'm sorry, writers, but you've rehashed that plot way too many times and it's grown WAY too old. Plus, how many single moms of sons are the boys going to fall for (Kate for John, Lisa for Dean, and now this girl? I don't know her, but I only liked the Milligans as of yet)? I mean, Supernatural is my favorite show and I'm excited to see the young Winchesters, plus Jensen directing again, but S6 was screwed up and I'd rather not see that happen to this one, especially since it's probably the final.
No offense, but Brock cannot pull off a young Dean Winchester.
I have no desire to see him in any episodes let along possible multiple ones.
So Sam gets his own Lisa and Ben. So much for not being redundant.
Also I have zero interest in anyone but Ackles playing Dean. Maybe Gamble should stop trying to prove the show can exist without Jensen Ackles.
Wow way to be NOT redundant. Sam gets Lisa and Ben: The Redux!
And seriously "in discussions for future episodes"? What? Is Jensen even in this season, because I have no interest in seeing Brock Kelly play Dean ONCE more, never mind "episodes". I have no doubt Brock is a nice guy and that he's a fine actor but he's not Dean, imo. And he's TOO adult to be convincing because we already have an ADULT Dean, and he's played by and looks like and sounds and is embodied Jensen Ackles. Dean at 26, when we met him, would not have been all that different from Dean at 19 or 20 which is all that Brock can play because bloody hell they better not have him playing REAL adult Dean. Lots of 26 year olds still get carded for goodness sake, you don't look like a different person unless you lose or gain a lot of weight and seriously change your fashion stylings and obviously Dean didn't do any of those things. :)
Throw some vaseline on the lens and make Jensen play any 19 or 20 year old Deans if they need them.
It isn't like it isn't the norm for tv characters to play younger versions of themselves when flashbacks come up. God on Lost they used to have characters playing 20 year younger versions of themselves, with bad wigs. No need for any of that with Dean so if Lost could do it, then by golly, so can Supernatural. :)
