'So You Think You Can Dance' alum Travis Wall starts season strong with 'Statue Dance'
Fans of "So You Think You Can Dance" have come to expect a lot from Season 2 runner-up Travis Wall. His contemporary choreography in latter seasons rivals the work of "SYTYCD" friend Mia Michaels, so when he had two routines for the first night of live competition in Season 8, we knew we were in for a treat.
But one dance really hit it out the park.
Melanie Moore and Marko Germar's "Statue Dance," a contemporary number set Ingrid Michaelson's "Turned to Stone," saw both members of the top 20 decked out in dramatic statue-esque body paint. And after the applause finally settled, the judges just swooned.
"A number comes along that is magical," said Mary Murphy. "There's just amazing artistry at what you do."
Executive producer and head judge Nigel Lythgoe even predicted it would the season's first Emmy-nominated dance.
Think he's right? Check out the dance and chime in.

It's quite possible. It was just beautiful.
Travis Wall is amazing!!! He can make anyone look good. Lucky for those that pick him for their choreography.
while i agree the piece was amazing - it felt like a knockoff of ANTM who did a photo shoot, with a 'Noted Fashion Photographer' 2 cycles ago. Am I the only one who noticed that?
