'Project Runway': Heidi Klum bares all to promote Season 9

project-runway-s9.jpgThe new season of "Project Runway" will premiere in July with a tweak to the show's format, a new roster of guest judges and ...

Sorry, we're a little distracted by the promo image there. If your intention was to get us to notice the new season, Heidi Klum, then mission accomplished.

So, on to the particulars of Season 9: The show will begin with 20 contestants, the largest field it's ever had. Don't get too attached, though. During the premiere, all 20 designers have to make a case to Klum, judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia and mentor Tim Gunn as to why they deserve a spot. Four of them will be sent packing right away, and the remaining 16 will begin "one of the toughest first challenges in the series' history" at dawn the next day.

Among this season's guest judges are Zoe Saldana, Malin Akerman, Kim Kardashian and Christina Ricci. Per usual, the competition culminates with the last remaining designers showcasing their work at New York Fashion Week.

"Project Runway" premieres at 9 p.m. ET Thursday, July 28 on Lifetime.

Any idea when it will air in Canada?

I used to love this show, but after last season's Gretchen-winning disaster, I'm going to wait to hear some good buzz before bothering to watch.

I agree with Joel. In fact, I just now Googled 'Project Runway' because I expected to find that they canceled the program, given that last season was horrible and that final coup de gras of seeing mullet-headed Gretchen win. So I doubt I will be watching. I found Project Runway last year to basically show up the Fashion industry as being nothing but a bunch of self-important flibberty gibbets with not enough common sense -- or fashion sense -- to fit through the eye of a needle. May word get to me that this season is not so ridiculous, and actually shows that the people with the nicest and sharpest fashion concepts actually win. If not, then I won't be watching.
