Lifetime turns Hugh Hefner wedding special into 'runaway bride' show

What do you do when one of the primary players in your reality TV special decides she's not into it anymore?

Keep the cameras rolling.

Earlier this month, Lifetime announced a two-hour "docu-special" called "Marrying Hef" that was to follow Hugh Hefner and Playmate Crystal Harris in the days leading up to their wedding. Then Harris decided marrying Hef wasn't for her, and that was presumed to be that, in terms of television specials.

Hefner and the special's producers, though, seem to have realized that a sensational story is nothing to sneeze at, even if it's not the story they originally set out to tell. "The marriage special planned for Lifetime TVis now going to have a 'runaway bride' theme & will air in July," Hefner tweeted Tuesday (June 21). A Lifetime rep confirms to Zap2it that the special is "back on," although an airdate hasn't been determined yet.

The "'runaway bride' theme" doesn't sound like it will be especially favorable to Harris, but that's the price you pay for leaving before the production wraps.
