'Law & Order: SVU': Jennifer Love Hewitt reportedly out, Ice-T reups for two years

"Law & Order: SVU" has been going through some major changes lately. Star Christopher Meloni has announced he is not returning for Season 13 and his longtime cohort Mariska Hargitay has scaled back her role to part-time.But one shakeup that does not appear to be happening is Jennifer Love Hewitt joining the show as a semi-replacement for Hargitay. Deadline is reporting they hear that despite the rumors of Hewitt's joining the show, it is no longer happening. That doesn't mean there won't be a new female pairing up with Hargitay's Benson, but it's not going to be JLH.
Someone who will be back, however, is star Ice-T. He took to Twitter Friday (June 10) to say, "EXCLUSIVE: I've just locked in my new SVU deal.. So I'll officially be back for the next 2 years at least. DONE."
He adds, "INSIDE SVU: At this moment no one else is locked as new members of the show."

How about Jennifer Beals? I thought her show on Fox was good but of course it was cancelled :(
I was already marking SVU off my DVR schedule for season 13, but now that Jennifer Love is OUT, I'm thrilled. She was just not a good match for this series. Still not happy about Chris Meloni not returning...changes probably won't bode well with SVU fans.
I think there are a lot of great actors and actresses from some of the cancelled daytime shoes that would be great. Especially from As the World Turns and One Life to Live since lots of the folks are New York based already.
It wouldn't make sense for JLH to be on, she was a victim just last year.

i like jlh, but dont think she was right for this anyways. the women who played stablers partner |dani| for a few episodes while mariska was out was a great fit i thought. i cant remember her real name, but i would love to see her back on svu, or tv in general.
How bout Regina Hall? she just got dropped from LOLA. Another frustrated lawyer who joins the beat
I would like to throw Elizabeth Mitchell's (Lost and V) name in the ring. She's a solid actress and deserves a steady gig on TV.
u know, LisaRaye McCoy could have been good in the role, but she has started a new series. Jamie Luner?
There is also that original cast member who was dropped for Ice; they could bring her back.
Maybe Lisa Edelstein can transition from HOUSE to L&O:SVU. She seems like she'd be a natural in a New York crime drama.
