Keith Olbermann possibly getting $10 million for Current TV 'Countdown'

keith-olbermann-msnbc.jpgNearly 5 months after suddenly signing off at MSNBC, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" returns, to Current TV, on June 20.

The Hollywood Reporter's current cover story finds the cable newsman opening up about the backstage drama of his MSNBC departure on the eve of his new venture, but it's his reported salary that seems most intriguing.

Though the independent cable network won't disclose contract details, THR reports Olbermann's new gig will bring him in $10 million a year -- that's a 40 percent raise from his $7 million contract with the significantly larger MSNBC.

Olbermann's five year contract also makes him the network's chief news officer, giving him an equity stake in the company. THR posits this could give him as much as $100 million over the course of his planned tenure at Current  -- and that doesn't even include the extra year-and-a-half payout from his unfulfilled MSNBC contract.

You're assuming he will stay there - his history will prove otherwise.

How can a channel that nobody watches afford to pay anyone that kind of money?

Good for him. Maybe he'll put Current TV on the map. :)

When people say he made MSNBC what it is, that's like saying he was the best swimmer on the Titanic. MSNBC never got the ratings of CNN or FoxNews. Current TV has 30,000 viewers a night. After all the dust settles from his premiere, he get maybe 100,000 a night. Eventually, he'll start ******** with his bosses because they won't allow Fidel Castro on the show. Then he'll quit or get fired.

How can Ifind Keith Olbermann on the T.V. I am a big fan. MSNBC is on my don't watch list.
