Joe Rogan back as 'Fear Factor' host; Mariska Hargitay will be in every 'SVU' episode
Today's TV snacks include a return to TV for one person, a departure that's not as big as we thought and a new home for a new show. Enjoy:The back-from-the-dead "Fear Factor" will return to NBC with its original host, Joe Rogan. Still no word on when the show will debut, but Rogan is happy to be back on board: "The idea of sitting at home and watching someone else host it would have driven me crazy," he says. [TV Guide]
Reports of Mariska Hargitay's absence from "Law & Order: SVU" this season were apparently exaggerated. She's still cutting back to spend more time with her family, and the show will still feature two new detectives in Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish, but an NBC spokesperson says Hargitay will still appear in every episode. Just not, perhaps, in almost every scene as she sometimes has in the past. [EW]
"The Playboy Club" will air in Salt Lake City after all. Two weeks after NBC affiliate KSL dropped the show over concerns about potentially racy content, MyNetwork TV station KMYU has picked it up. It will air in the same Monday spot as it would have on KSL. [TV Guide]
"Better With You" star Jennifer Finnigan has found her next TV role at USA. She'll star in the cable channel's pilot "Wild Card," playing a lawyer who (along with fellow attorney Ben Lawson) helps people undo their bad behavior in Las Vegas. Her casting lifts a contingency from the project. [Deadline]
Speaking of USA, "Today" show anchor Matt Lauer will make a cameo as himself on an episode of "Royal Pains" scheduled for Aug. 7. Evan (Paulo Costanzo) attempts to get Lauer to do a profile of Hank (Mark Feuerstein) and his medical practice. [USA]
Right around the time NBC's version of "Free Agents" debuts in the fall, you'll get to do a compare-and-contrast with the British series that inspired it. BBC America will begin airing the original show on Fridays starting Oct. 1. [BBC America]

I still can't figure out why they're birnging Fear factor back...is NBC that desperate for a hit show?
NBC is desperate to save money.
Hey, if they're gonna bring it back, at least Rogan is back. And before you start bashing him, check out his stand-up. One of the most intelligent comedians on the circuit.
AND WHO CARES WHAT YOU TWO THINK? It's a lot better than what NBC has been spewing as of late. And in the end it's just entertainment. And if mindless entertainment makes you angry, then you got deeper issues than just hating on a freaking t.v. show.
jersey scum....been reading your posts lately, you're right on the money!!
thx straycats. I been out of work the past week, and online too much. Time for a break, kind of tired of myself to be honest.
peace
I wish they were bringing "Newsradio" back instead, but Joe's awesome!
Your last name is Garelli?
