'iCarly' welcoming First Lady Michelle Obama

michelle-obama-getty.jpgOne of Nickelodeon's most popular shows is about to welcome a pretty big guest star. First Lady Michelle Obama is set to appear in an upcoming episode of "iCarly" to promote Joining Forces, an initiative that will aim to increase awareness and support for military families, the Nickelodeon president Cyma Zarghami tells the AP.

On the show, titular character Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) is the daughter of a colonel who is serving overseas. The plot of the episode will feature Carly's friends breaking some rules to set up a birthday chat between Carly and her father, which the first lady discovers and comes to talk to the girl about it. Show creator and executive producer Dan Schneider wrote the episode just for the first lady and her Joining Forces initiative.

"When she approached us, after he was done jumping for joy, Dan sat down and came up with a very, very clever idea," says Zarghami. "It's a feel-good initiative and regardless of your political affinity, everybody cares about these families, so it just feels right."

The Obama "iCarly" episode is likely to air in January.

Very, very cool! What scripted show ever has the First Lady or President?

What a phony! Pretending to support our military while her lousy husband works to cut military pay. 25% of military families must rely on food stamps (versus 14% of civilians) to make ends meet, but this anti-American administration refuses to allow our military the dignity of supporting their families on a decent salary. Joining Forces my a$$!

She's going on to give the star a "Obama/Biden 2012" bumper sticker...then eat meat.

Yikes! I'm having flashbacks to the 1980's when Nancy Reagan appeared on Different Strokes, telling Arnold to 'Just Say No' to drugs.
