'Honey Badger' guy enlisted by Hub to promote... 'Jem and the Holograms'
Hold onto your nonprescription glasses, hipster readers. One of the top memes of 2011 and that '80s cartoon you at least tell people you love have collided, producing the greatest clip you'll likely see all week.
"Jem and the Holograms," if you didn't know, recently started airing in syndicated glory over on Hub. And to promote their acquisition, Vulture points out the cartoon channel put together a promo narrated by Randall, aka the "Honey Badger" guy.
While the spot does lack the wildlife intensity and foul-mouthed flourishes of the original -- "Jem don't care" as opposed to "Jem don't give a s**t" -- we're going to have to rule this as a marketing win for Hub.
Now let's see if you can figure out what channel its on or whether you even have it...

Jen is airing on TV again?! Epic!!!
Did Hub really "enlist" this guy to do this? Jem and the Holograms airs on Tuesdays with an encore airing on Saturday. You'd think that they'd have asked him to include that at the end of the video and listing the time a show is on is always a better way to promote a show to get people watching.
Last Saturday Hub aired a marathon of the first six episodes. It was great because my wife somehow never watched Jem and the Holograms as a child.
The Misfits songs are better (as they sing in the theme song "Our songs are better"). I've been singing "Universal Appeal" in my head since I heard it again last Saturday.
Here's rumors going around that a life action remake or movie may be in the works. Fingers crossed, eh?
Just checked Hub's website and Jem is listed as being on Tuesday through Friday. I'll have to check my DVR to make sure everything is set up correctly. I don't remember seeing any episodes set to tape other than Tuesdays.
Wow. This really isn't funny. Suddenly his narration lacks wit and is grating. He's going to ruin his Honey Badger work!
If a live-action Jem And The Holograms is anything like the live-action Josie And The Pussycats, I'm going to pass on it.
