'Game of Thrones' Season 2 rumors include Gerard Butler, Debbie Reynolds appearing on 'SYTYCD'

game-of-thrones-dragon-babies.jpgWhen you play the "Game of Thrones," you win or you die -- and, as fans of the HBO series know, a lot of the Season 1 cast definitely didn't win.

The casualty-filled final episodes have cleared room for the addition of new characters from the books (and actors to play them) when the series returns in Spring 2012. And the day after the finale, a possible goof on the series' IMDB page has people wondering if Gerard Butler is joining the cast.

Warming Glow points out the "300" actor is currently credited as playing Stannis Baratheon on the series. And while Stannis, the oldest surviving brother of felled king Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy), will likely find his way into Season 2 storylines... he won't be played by Butler.

HBO confirms to Zap2it that Butler's addition to the cast is not true, so you can probably credit this to IMDB's communal editing policy and a bored, hopeful fan.

- Though we think she might be better suited to "So You Think You Can Auction Off Celebrity Memorabilia," song-and-dance lady Debbie Reynolds will appear on FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance" this week. She joins Megan Mullally, Lady Gaga and Kristin Chenoweth as Season 8 guest judges. [FOX]

- AMC's "The Killing" ended its freshman season with a critically divisive finale -- and though many claim to be giving up on the show now, the June 19 episode performed on par with recent weeks in the ratings. 2.3 million viewers tuned out for the cliffhanger. [EW]

- Denis Leary is moving to USA for his next TV project. He'll co-write (with Bob Fisher of "Traffic Light") and executive produce a half-hour comedy based on the British series "Sirens," about a group of young paramedics. [USA]

- Showtime and writer David S. Goyer ("Batman Begins," "FlashForward") are collaborating on an adaptation of the comic book "100 Bullets." The series follows a mysterious Agent Graves, who offers people the chance to exact revenge without fear of getting caught -- but has a much larger goal in mind. [Deadline]

My vote is for Paul Reiser to play Stannis Baratheon. I miss smelling the Paul Reiser shoe over and over and over again so much!

Stannis is the younger brother of Robert not oldest

Stannis IS the oldest Baratheon. Renly is the youngest. Robert was the middle child. That's why he was fostered to Jon Arryn.

Do you mean "casuality-filled" when you write "causality-filled"... Both interesting turns of phrase, but very different meanings.

What about Dallas Roberts? He is 41 and actually looks like Gething Anthony.

He is perfect for being older than Renly and younger than Robert Baratheon. and an incredible actor!

Stannis is the oldest Baratheon alive! He was not older than King Robert.

There's a rumour that they're going after Tim Roth for the role.

Since this season presented all of the first book —the Game of Thrones— can we expect each season to do the same? That will work for 4 more seasons, but that 6th book is yet to be written.

@William
...and, given GRRM's track record, that sixth book will be finished, real soon now, in about 15 years.
