'Criminal Minds': Thomas Gibson still not signed for Season 7

Thomas Gibson, who has starred on the show for its entire run, is currently without a contract. Negotiations have "stalled," Deadline reports, which could put a crimp in planning for the coming season.

The show's writers recently started meeting to break stories for the coming season, but that could prove difficult if they don't know for sure whether to include Gibson's Agent Hotchner in the mix. "Criminal Minds" is scheduled to begin filming in early July.

On the plus side, Gibson is still doing his part to promote the show, contract or no. Deadline notes he and co-star Matthew Gray Gubler will appear on behalf of the show at the Monte Carlo Television Festival this week, and he's also set to do other press events in Europe. There's also still some time to make a deal and not mess with the production schedule.

Hotch *is* the show for many people. Casual viewers recognize the show with Thomas Gibson's character. No Hotch- No Criminal Minds!

I love Thomas Gibson, he is a main character, and I would be bummed out if he leaves the show, I may still watch to at least see if his replacement works out.

It's a great show, one of my favorites, with or without him. I don't think he is a required element.

He can be replaced. It's a "team" show and the other cast members are strong enough in their own right. No big deal if he doesn't come back.

@ DJ , yet look what happened when AJ Cook and Paget Brewster were let go. Pandemonium. It is an ensemble show, but the ensemble has to stick.

i will miss Gibson if not in the show but will continue watching as I like the shows premise and intensity.

Will not watch without Thomas Gibson. He is Criminal Minds. No Hotch/Thomas Gibson, no Criminal Minds.
