Cheryl Cole billed as 'X Factor' 'guest judge,' fighting for paycheck
We're starting to feel awfully sympathetic for ousted "X Factor" judge Cheryl Cole.
Though she's been officially cut loose by both the U.S. and U.K. iterations of the reality franchise, multiple outlets report the pop star's "X Factor" dramas are far from over.
The Hollywood Reporter cites a source close to Cole, who says producers at Fremantle don't even want to pay her for the time she put in. Cole now has to appear at the U.S. consulate in London and apply for a visa in order to get paid for the work she did.
The story also claims that it was indeed executive producer Simon Cowell behind the firing and that he expected she would return to the British version with no hard feelings.
Whether she's paid for it or not, Cole did put in four days of work screening auditions for the first season. And that footage will make it to air.
The Mirror reports Cole will be billed as "guest judge" for her brief stint when the series premieres in the fall.
"Yes, of course Cheryl will be on the American show," executive producer Richard Holloway tells the paper. "She did auditions in two cities and we will reflect that."

The should pay her full salary, she relocated her life in LA, dropped her music career just to be fired after 4 days of work. I'm tired of this drama. Either pay the girl or bring her back. And I agree with that source, she's not a pawn that Simon Cowell can use at his own convenience. He probably thinks she's just another woman in his personal harem
You really gotta feel for Cheryl Cole she comes all the way to America only to get back stabbed by her "friend" Simon Cowell. Cowell comes of as a scumbag in this situation. First he lies about not being involved in the firing and now making Cheryl jump threw hoops in order to get paid. Simon's X-Factor will hopefully flop and he can go back to the U.K. with his tail between his legs. Use to like Simon and now I loath him.
I'd rather see Cheryl judge rather than Paula or Nicole. It sucks that she's getting treated in this manner.
Don't feel too sorry for her; years ago she physically assaulted a woman while under the influence, so I guess this drama is just nothing more than karma.
She did the work so she should be entitled to payments; if not, sue the crap out of Cowell and FOX.
Good riddance! i don't think anyone would eb able to understand her accent. i've watched the X Factor for years, but don't always understand what she says. i think she would not be a good fit for Americans, also what music career? Her music career is already over. She sucks as a singer.
