'X-Factor': Cheryl Cole ousted over her accent? Plus, would you rather see Nicole Scherzinger?
Reports from TMZ tell us that "The X-Factor" has fired Cheryl Cole from the judging panel, which also includes Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and L.A. Reid. Cole served as a judge on the original version of the show in the UK, where she's also enjoyed fame as a member of pop group Girls Aloud and as a successful solo artist. Now, rumors are running rampant that she was booted from the U.S. version of the show because of... her accent? Cole's strong regional accent is one of many things that makes her stand out from the crowd, and according to some sources, FOX bosses overruled Cowell's decision out of concern that American audiences wouldn't be able to understand her.
There are also reports claiming that Cole and Abdul didn't have chemistry, and the executives considered Abdul to be more valuable to the American version of the franchise. Some sources site Cole's homesickness and lack of "glamor" as additional reasons.
That's a whole lot of reasons, but none that seem particularly logical. Watch the video below. Is Cole's accent too hard for you to understand?
She's reportedly been replaced by Nicole Scherzinger. The Pussycat Doll was initially hired to host the show, but we may be seeing her behind the judge's bench this fall.
When we reached out for comment from FOX, the network declined to comment.
Weigh in below in the comments section. Would you rather see Nicole or Cheryl?

Please... anyone but Nicole! She has a great voice, but did you see her judge on The Sing Off? It was embarrassing to watch!
I was curious to see Cole. Don't have anything against the Pussycat Doll, but if there's a mentoring element I'm not sure she's the best fit. I mean, she's tried at least 6 times to launch a solo career unsuccessfully, despite having visibility from the PCD and then Dancing with the Stars. Not sure she has the best...instincts, I guess you could say.
Neither Cheryl or Nicole should have the job Cheryl is a nobody and Nicole is a total flop. Simon needs to hire a famous US singer with talent. I wouldn't be surprise if Mariah ends up being replacing Nicole for the live shows. Most America's don't like to watch Nicole she's annoying.
I'd rather Cheryl. I've watched Britain's THE X FACTOR online (for several years now) and enjoy Cheryl's presence. I've never had difficulty understanding her, and in fact LOVE her accent. She's plenty glamourous. Nicole is fine, and I didn't mind her as a judge on THE SING OFF, but I'd prefer Cheryl.
she's beautiful, much easier on the eyes than paula.
I trust Simon's instincts. I was looking forward to seeing Cheryl. She's beautiful, classy, experienced, and her voice is lovely. Nicole seemed lovely on DWTS but was awkward and a potty-mouth as a judge on The Sing Off. Cheryl is best for the judge's seat, allowing Nicole the opportunity to redeem herself as the host.
agree with ck. nicole was so bad as a judge on the sing off i may not tune into the x factor. already was questioning whether i would or not when i heard nicole was a co host. she's horrid. simon what are u NOT thinking!!
Not that I'll be watching (I don't watch unscripted TV), but, if I had to choose, I'd definitely watch Cheryl.
I agree with Rose. Somebody who is relevant in America.
It's going to be bad if The X-Factor doesn't do well in ratings. FOX stinks!
