'Unforgettable' video: CBS' new drama has a long memory

unforgettable-320.jpgFormer "Without a Trace" star Poppy Montgomery returns to CBS this fall as the star of "Unforgettable," playing a character with a memory that puts elephants to shame.

She plays Carrie Wells, a former detective who has hyperthymesia, a rare condition that makes her remember just about everything she's ever experienced. In the pilot, she's a witness to a murder, which brings her back in contact with her ex-partner and ex-boyfriend (Dylan Walsh, "Nip/Tuck"). She soon becomes a consultant to the NYPD, putting her total recall to use in homicide cases.

If Carrie's condition sounds familiar, you may have seen a "60 Minutes" piece about actress Marilu Henner and a handful of other people who have hyperthymesia a few months back. Henner is now a consultant on "Unforgettable."

"Without a Trace" veterans Ed Redlich and John Bellucci created "Unforgettable," which also stars Kevin Rankin ("Friday Night Lights," "Trauma"), Michael Gaston ("Jericho"), and Daya Vaidya. Here's a preview of the show:

Great, another gimmick show. It's almost falls under the "superhero" category, but not quite. I would say that you could already call this one canceled, but The Mentalist is still on the CBS schedule after three years. (And that gimmick show is nothing but a rip-off of Psych.)
