Fast National ratings for Friday, May 20, 2011

Plenty of people apparently chose to spend their possible last night on earth somewhere else than in front of the television.

CBS won a down Friday, with a new episode of "Flashpoint" and a repeat of "CSI: New York" leading the way. The two-hour "Supernatural" finale brought numbers consistent with recent episodes to the CW, though it was down by more than half a million viewers from the 2010 finale.

All in all, CBS averaged 6.3 million viewers and a 4.1 rating/8 share in households, giving it an easy edge over second-place NBC (4.6 million, 3.2/6) -- which itself just edged past ABC (4.5 million, 2.9, 5). FOX (3.7 million, 2.1/4) followed in fourth, with the CW (2.1 million, 1.3/2) in last.

The finale and ensuing repeat of "Kitchen Nightmares" gave FOX the 18-49 demo with a 1.5, followed by ABC (1.3), NBC (1.1), CBS (1.0) and the CW (0.8).

Sadly I predict Supernatural will be over after next season.

I just love how a rerun of Kitchen Nightmares gets higher ratings and demo's than a new Fringe.

Unfortunately the Supernatural finale did not start until 11pm in the Sacramento CA market, the nations 20th largest due to a meaningless May baseball game. That definitely had affect on the overnights... I just watched it this morning and had to manually program my DVR to enure that I got both episodes. I bet some did not...
