'The X Factor': Promo featuring Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole released
Helicopters! 15,000 people auditioning! Marriage proposals! The American flag randomly appearing out of nowhere!
You guessed right: It's the first official promo for Simon Cowell's new reality singing competition "The X Factor."
The promo aired during "American Idol's" Top 3 results show (Still missing you, Haley Reinhart!), and officially introduced us to the "X Factor" crew: "Global hit maker" L.A. Reid, "multi-platinum selling artist" Cheryl Cole, "pop sensation" Nicole Scherzinger and "introducing" Steve Jones. Oh yeah, and Cowell's old partner-in-crime Paula Abdul.
We don't really learn anything new from the promo -- winner receives a $5 million recording contract, there are four categories (boys 12-25, girls 12-25, singers over the age of 25 and vocal groups) -- but that doesn't mean it isn't a great promo. The music is great, the editing is sharp and it makes you want to watch the show. You win this round, Cowell.
