'The X Factor': Nicole Scherzinger, Steve Jones confirmed as hosts; Paula Abdul still a holdout

Nicole-Scherzinger-X-Factor.jpgIt's official: Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and newcomer to U.S. TV Steve Jones have been tapped as hosts of Simon Cowell's American take on "The X Factor." And just in time since auditions kick off Sunday (May 8) in Los Angeles.

"I am thrilled to be asked by Simon Cowell to host 'The X Factor'," said Scherzinger in a statement released by Fox. "I loved working alongside Simon on the U.K. show, and cannot wait to see what he has in store for the U.S."

Neither can we.

We're also anxious to find out if Cowell will nail down a deal with potential judge Paula Abdul before Sunday's auditions. Cheryl Cole and Antonio "L.A." Reid are already confirmed as judges. While the Associated Press reported on Saturday (May 7) afternoon that Abdul had in fact signed a contract, a source close to the show told the L.A. Times that she had not signed yet.

"I'm sure she will sign," one talent representative connected to the show told the Times, adding that the delay was "Paula being Paula."

Bummed that Dermot O'Leary did not get chosen as host. I would have loved Nicole as a judge, but I'm happy that she's part of the show.

I could do without Paula as a judge. I don't recall her giving much constructive criticism as a judge on AI, so I don't think she'd do a great job here. Maybe she's a better mentor than judge?

Afther The Voice , do we even really still care?
All the names involved with XF are pfffffffffffff.

I don't know why people care about Paula Abdul being a judge... She was worst judge on Idol, and doesn't offer constructive feedback. People like to watch her have a meltdown, and act loopy, that's about it.

Steve Jones has hosted many shows in the Uk, most recently Let's Dance for Comic Relief. As for he and Nicole, a rather odd combo. Dermont should of had a position in the show in someway.

Paula Abdul has been confirmed as a judge via Deadline Hollywood's Nikki Finke. I'm disappointed. As others have stated, she's a terrible judge. She just incoherently blabbers on and claps her hands like a trained seal. Almost anyone would've been a better choice than Paula.

Well the LA auditions just went live, at 1pm (4pm est) so we should know who is judge 4 soon.

This show is all hype. Shows like America's Got Talent or The Voice are much more interesting to me.
