'The Secret Circle' photos: First look at The CW's coven of witches
The CW unveiled their 2011-12 schedule on Thursday, May 19, and in an expected (and might we add smart) move, they paired Kevin Williamson's new teen drama "The Secret Circle" with his hit show "The Vampire Diaries" on Thursdays.
"The Secret Circle" -- which Williamson and Andrew Miller are executive producing -- centers on a young girl ("Life Unexpected's" Britt Robertson) who discovers she is part of a secret coven of witches after moving to her mother's hometown to live with her grandmother. If that weren't enough, she also happens to be the key to unlocking a centuries-old battle of good vs. evil.
The CW has released the first images from the show, which includes a cast shot of all six members of the coven.
From left to right, we have Thomas Dekker as Adam, Shelley Hennig as Diana, Robertson as Cassie, Louis Hunter as Nick, Phoebe Tonkin as Faye and Jessica Parker Kennedy as Melissa.
Other images released include a tense moment between Cassie and Faye, Cassie locked in a car that's on fire and some seriously gorgeous shots of Cassie and Adam. Williamson recently told THR to expect an epic love story between those two. The word soulmates may or may not have been used. One problem? He's dating Cassie's new best friend Diana, who is also the leader of their coven of witches.

I was planning to watch it until seeing these photos. Teenagers? YUCK i'll pass. Guess i will stick to watching charmed on dvds.
Of course it's about teenagers, it's based on LJ Smith's novel series The Secret Circle, which is targeted towards teens!
I'll be checking it out. KW has done an awesome job with TVD, hopefully TSC will be as good.

I'm excited for this show! I hope it can stand up to all it hype though. Plus, I know & LOVE 3 of the 4 girls. What could be better!? :)
My only problem with the picture of the "coven" is that it looks like something straight out of Twilight. This show is about witches, not vampires. So if I were them I would try to steer clear of vampire boulevard.
But is there any color on this show? Any gay people? Or anything else unexpected or alternative in the dynamics of the cast of characters, or are we looking at the usual angst? Sure sounds the usual, what with the petite blond new girl boyfriend-stealer. *sigh* Not expecting much.
If I had a choice between Shelly Hennig or Britt Robertson, I would choose Shelly every time.
So, Ugh... Gay people = color? If it doesn't make a point to include gay people, it's just not interesting, or even valid? Why? Is that how we should evaluate our entertainment? By how well it serves the gay political/social agenda?
I loved these books and I'm looking forward to the series.
