The CW to pick up Sarah Michelle Gellar's 'Ringer'

smg-getty.jpgWe're in TV heaven, aren't we? This is too good to be true.

Deadline reports that Sarah Michelle Gellar's pilot "Ringer" will in fact be picked up for the fall. The series was originally developed by CBS, but in a surprising twist, it is now going to the network's sibling, The CW.

In the project, Gellar plays two characters, twins named Bridget and Siobhan. Bridget is on the run from the mob and inhabits her wealthy sister Siobhan's life after Siobhan's death. Turns out (as it so often does) that her twin sister also has a price on her head. Simple enough, right?

The series also stars "Life Unexpected's" Kris Polaha, Tara Summers and Ioan Gruffudd. Gellar serves as co-executive producer on the project, which was created by "Supernatural" scribes Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder.

It seems fitting that the show will move to The CW as it brings Gellar back to the network that replaced the two networks that originally aired "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" -- The WB and UPN.

I am ecstatic right now.

It probably has a better chance of survival on CW if it's a moderate success than if it was on a bigger network lke CBS. I look forward with a small amount of interest to seeing SMG's return to tv.

Do SOMETHING!

Please pair it with NIKITA!!

Finally some good news since ABC cancelled Brothers and Sisters!!

Glad to see Kris back on TV!!

Wow. What a shocker, but then "Ringer" wouldn't have survived on a big network like CBS anyway, since it airs almost exclusively only boring procedurals.

I guess the term "comeback" can be understood in its literal meaning in this case, with Sarah M Gellar's return to the network that made her a household name.

I hope this will work out for Gellar and the show. I'll definitely tune in!
