'Smallville' finale: Read Clark's and Lois's wedding vows
Note: The following article contains spoilers for the two-hour series finale of "Smallville." If you haven't seen it yet and intend to, feel free to go read something else. We won't be offended!"Smallville" fans have been anticipating Lois and Clark's wedding for most of the final season -- but we never actually saw them say "I do" in Friday night's season-ending television event, titled simply, "Finale." Unfortunately, when you're a superhero, saving the world trumps even your own wedding.
Luckily, we did get the chance to hear both Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling) say their vows, which was incredibly special, particularly because without those vows, our destined duo may never have actually made it to the altar. (We'll just ignore the part where it takes them at least seven years to get there.)
Clark is, as always, confident in his feelings for Lois. His vows are as follows.
"I, Clark Kent, take you, Lois Lane, to be my companion, forever. With you by my side I will never be alone. THough the world sees a strong and independent woman, I've never known someone with such gentle grace and more pure heart. When I've been lost you've always been there to bring me back, so on this day, at this moment, I pledge the rest of my life to you. You've always believed in me, and I believe in you. When you believe in someone it's not for a minute, or just for now, it's forever."
Ever the perfectionist, Lois red-penned her way through her vows. And, of course, she remained true to who she has always been -- the General's daughter.
"I wanted these vows to be perfect, but perfection is a hard thing to get your hands on. But life is meant to be a little messy, and when it comes to love I think it's like my dad always said about the army: You only sign up if it's the only thing you could ever imagine doing. Clark, I can not imagine spending a moment of my life without you. I promise that I will always have your back, as you will always have mine. You're my best friend, you're my home, and you are my true love, and I am yours and will be forever."

Those vows were the most beautiful and most romantic words ever uttered in the series. They were so perfect for each character and so complimentary of the relationship. Whoever wrote those vows really understood the magic behind Lois and Clark. I cried and smiled while listening to these vows. It was a perfect moment for me as a Lois and Clark fan. Thank you for typing them up, Carina!
That was one sad part
Those vows were amazing and beautiful!!! I'm just disappointed the wedding didn't go through and 7 years in the future, they still weren't married. I wish show would have given us that. They are married in the comics and have been for over a decade. We know they get married. Why not have them be married?? Epic fail on that part, IMO.

CLOIS FOREVER! :)
That was so beautiful. ♥_♥
CLOIS FOREVER! :)

They weren't married on the show because in the comics they don't get married until after he becomes Superman. So they tried to stay as true to the comics and the fans as they could by showing they were going to get married
I agree. They SHOULD have gotten married. And the fact that it was taking them over 7 years... that was pointless.
It doesn't matter if Clois don't get married in the comics, until AFTER he is Superman...
They also don't MEET until then either. So, here they have KNOWN each other for 6 years and been in love and engaged for 1-2 years.
The PTB stretching the actually MARRIAGE out... fail, imho.
The vows were perfect. So they didn't get married in Finale. IMHO, it didn't matter because everyone knows it is Lois and Clark forever.
Those vows are beautiful. I honestly don't even care that it took them 7 years, those vows more than made up for it. To me they're married, the ceremony is just a formality.
The article just Made me teared up again :'(
I LOVE the Smallville Finale
