'Prime Suspect': Maria Bello revamps classic Helen Mirren role for NBC

"Prime Suspect" started as a police procedural in the United Kingdom, airing at various times between 1991 and 2006 and starring the inimitable Helen Mirren. NBC is taking their swing at the crime drama in 2011 with Maria Bello as the tough-as-nails Detective Jane Timoney (Jane Tennison in the U.K. version).

The show has been redeveloped for American audiences by writer Alexandra Cunningham ("Desperate Housewives," "NYPD Blue") and director Peter Berg (NBC's "Friday Night Lights"). Bello's Timoney is a newly-transferred New York City homicide detective having to deal with being the new woman in a male-dominated department.

"Prime Suspect" also stars Aidan Quinn ("Unknown"), Brian O'Byrne ("Flash Forward"), Tim Griffin ("Star Trek"), Kirk Acevedo ("Fringe"), Joe Nieves ("How I Met Your Mother"), Damon Gupton ("The Last Airbender") and Peter Gerety ("Blue Bloods"). It will air Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT, following NBC's Thursday comedy lineup.

The trailers just keep getting worse.
They have expanded jane's love for talking
About her wounds earned in the line of
Duty and especially her pride in her black eye.

it is just so ridiculous. She gets to wear a funny
Hat that only a mentally challenged woman
Would wear and that to is supposed to
Endear her to us.

My advice to take the roll of a cartoon character
Make sure you are only doing voice overs.
