'One Tree Hill' picked up for Season 9: Will James Lafferty return?
Congratulations, "One Tree Hill" fans! After tirelessly campaigning with The CW, Season 9 is a go -- and we got word just in time for tonight's Season 8 finale. The CW has picked up Season 9 for 13 episodes, and while no official announcement has been made, it's very likely that this will be marketed as the final season of the long-running WB veteran series.
There is no word yet on whether James Lafferty will return for the season. As many fans are aware, he was the final series regular in contract negotiations. Sources tell Zap2it that Lafferty will definitely be returning in some capacity next season, though he may appear as a guest star.
Season 9 will introduce us to Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Julian (Austin Nichols) navigating parenthood, while Brooke and Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) team up to reopen Karen's Cafe in Tree Hill. Also on deck for Season 9? The return of Dan Scott (Paul Johansson), which is sure to have a profound impact on our beloved characters.
[Update]: The CW has officially announced the renewal of "Nikita" and cancellation of "Hellcats."
In the meantime, tune in for "One Tree Hill's" Season (not series!) finale tonight, May 17, at 8 p.m. on The CW.

If they cancel Nikita and keep this I will be shocked...This show should have met it's end last season and I am a fan. Nikita rocks I hope season 2 is granted.
they NEED to have Lucas and Peyton come back to conclude this show. I can't see in end any other way that the 5 of them with their families at the rivercourt...
You have no idea how happy this article made me.
I agree with Lucas and Peyton being bought back, just one last apperance would make me happy. I was hoping they'd be at Brookes Wedding but that was a no
Nikita has been renewed, hellcats has been cancelled
Why, oh, why is this show coming back???? I've watched it since the beginning but it's been a real chore at least the last two seasons. Much rather see Nikita, even Hellcats, survive another season.
Thrilled for Wilmington NC, and many people will keep their jobs. But they should put Vampire in this show's title, it will not die.
I admit I drifted away from the show some seasons ago, but what would be the point of bringing back Dan Scott if both of his sons aren't a part of the show anymore? Weird.
OTH,90210, and GG should all be canceled. All of these shows have ratings below 2 million viewers and in most cases less than 1.5 million per week.
OMG! I have been a fan of the show since the beginning, but OMG its time to end! the show has comepletly drifted from the original theme, and it needs to wrap. its so freakin cliche and boring! LET IT GO!
