Nigel Lythgoe calls Lee DeWyze out on 'American Idol' finale snub... again
And the Lee DeWyze vs. Nigel Lythgoe battle continues."American Idol's" Season 9 winner and executive producer made headlines Thursday, May 26, when Lythgoe tweeted that DeWyze declined to present Scotty McCreery with the winner's trophy at the grand finale.
DeWyze then responded that he was not asked to be a part of the finale and Lythgoe asked two minutes before Scotty's coronation if he would do it. "I didnt feel a last second jump on stage was appropriate," DeWyze tweeted. "It was Scotty's moment."
Now, Lythgoe has responded to DeWyze's "two minute" allegation. On Friday, May 27, Lythgoe tweeted, "I don't wish to continue the @leedewyze story. True, he wasn't asked to sing but Lee knows he was asked to present the trophy a week before."
So basically, Nigel just continued the story right after he said he didn't want to continue it.
Soon after Lythgoe posted his tweet, DeWyze jumped on his Twitter account to say, "I have no hard feelings towards Nigel, Idol, or anyone else. I love music, and that's what I'm going to focus on. I support American Idol and all it has done for me. I respect the decisions made for the Finale, and hope alls well that ends well."
Will the "Idol" finale drama ever end? Not if Lythgoe can help it, we're guessing.

LEE is probably getting more press with this situation then if he had sang one of his boring songs. Truth.
Nigel is a liar! The week before the finale, Lee was on tour in Asia, PROMOTING American Idol! Egocentric Nigel should have checked his facts before attempting, once again, to cyberbully the Season 9 Idol Champ. Nigel is just a pitiful little man (and a liar).
@Lori What does Lee being in Asia have to do with anything? The show could have contacted Lee's manager in Asia.
Nigel is ghastly, he is a master manipulator who does everything for drama and ratings. He could care less about the contestants or the audience. I feel for people who have to see his ugly mug on SYTYCD.
Even if Lee was asked to present the trophy a week ahead or a month ahead he should have been asked to perform. That's just how it works! All Nigel cares about is his ratings but quite frankly I would have rather seen Lee perform. I skipped through Jacobs performance as well as Beyonces and Lady GaGas
I agree with theanglemama, he may not have been the best idol winner, but he won, and should have been asked to sing. And I also turned the volume down during all other performances except Tim McGraw, Scotty, Tony Bennett, Jack Black & Tom Jones performances...thanks
Nigel showed a complete lack of class in this whole situation. Even if Lee had been asked a week before and had said no, why ask him again two minutes without any rehearsal (when you know he's gonna say no again) and THEN tweet about it in the most passive aggressive way possible? Nigel's the supposedly more mature person here and he showed none of that maturity. Pitiful man.
Why should Lee have been asked to perform? AI didn't invite Kelly Clarkson, the first AI winner, or hardly mention her name, for several years. It was becoming a scandal they way they tried to disown her or something, and she was having huge success in her career, always thanking AI. I think the finale had too much garbage on it, like Gaga simulating sexual intercourse on stage of a family show, with the contestant finalists being 16 and 17 years old, and many kids watching the show. Why succumb to the lowest element of the gutter, even if they are popular and make money? Why be part of the degradation of society? Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are good examples of the public really hoping to find good, decent people in the entertainment world. Somebody needs to pay attention, when America speaks up.
Lee Dewyze should definitely have
been asked to perform on Idol finale. Lady Gaga's performance of
imitating a sexual sct in front of teenagers and young children was disgusting. I believe Lee's comments not Nigel's.
