Marc Anthony: 'American Idol' Season 10 had best talent

marc-anthony-jennifer-lopez-nov-2010-gi.jpgMarc Anthony, the top-selling Salsa artist of all time and husband of "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez, is mum on who thinks will win, but he has been keeping close tabs on the show.

"That's a tough one," he tells Zap2it.  "And it's a tough one to answer. We have all seen it can go any way. I will reserve the right -- I won't comment on who I want.

"What I will say is the stable of talent this year is like none I have ever seen," Anthony continues. "That is a testament to the new process."

Lopez and Steven Tyler brought a new sensibility to the show, he says.

"Jennifer and Steven were sensitive in a different way to the realities of what it is to be an artist," Anthony says.

Sometimes just how much talent aspiring singers had wasn't always evident when, in past years, they picked the wrong songs.

This season had a far more open feel, he says, adding that  lowering the age requirement worked to the show's advantage.

"We had 15-year-olds and 16-year-olds that were unbelievably phenomenally talented."

Anthony isn't just speaking as singer and actor or as the husband of a judge. He watched the show for nine years before Lopez came on board this season.

And, he was at "American Idol" as often as possible.

"Whenever I could, I would fly in after concerts," he says. "I would stop in to see my wife and family. I witnessed the process. It was different. Their sensibilities were totally different. The stable this year was hands-down was one of the most talented."

Pls people vote tom. night for Amer. Idol contestent Scotty McCreery. He's just a boy, but he has worked to win this with the ethics of the best of men. He wants this more for the ppl that have supported him than he does for himself. He declaired his faith in God and country music from day one and has never wavered. His competitor auditioned as rock & tried bit of everything. Know that there is far more to this guy than some of us can imagine. See his full home town videos, they show real story of McCreery. A.I. only picked clips that positioned him as they wanted to emphasize. Clips do not begin to speak of the gratitude or love Scotty expressed for our support.

What a great argument for picking the winner of a singing competition!

And Marc Anthony has closely watched every other season of AI and feels competent to say season 10 has the "best" talent? Pu-lease. He's only saying that because his wife is judging it. Why do celebrities make such inane statements?

Marc Anthony only cares that his wife is a judge on the show and not a very good one I might add!!!! This years contestants were only a step above last year and in no way do they compare (in a good way) to the previous years!!

Scotty is a mediocre singer at best who often comes across as smug during performances, at least to me. I think he believes his own hype. He also exploited 9/11 to try and win a game show, which is incredibly distasteful.

With more critical judges, he may have turned out different. He'll win nonetheless.

I will say, though, the judges did find some talent this season. The viewers just didn't support it.

Scotty McCreery will have my vote. I hope to hear a lot more of him in the future.

PLeaaase, season 10 had best talent?
I would have agreed if the finale is not Scotty and Lauren. Talented kids yes, but not for American idol title.

I never missed an Idol show until this year. I made it all the way through last year's trainwreck but I haven't been able to stomach this year's crop of kids.

Season 7 (Cook/Archuleta) was strongest of all time. Season 10 has more talent than season 9, for sure, and is one of the strongest seasons the show has ever seen. Not the best, but one of the best.

Of course he has to say something good about the show, if it wasn't for her, he'd be living on the streets!! Her money is what he needs!! Forget about the singing. Must be real tough for him to live off of her weath. (LOL)
