Katie Couric leaving 'CBS Evening News' on May 19
It's official: Katie Couric will leave the "CBS Evening News" in just one week.The newswoman announced on Friday's (May 13) broadcast that her last day on the job will be May 19th.
"As some of you may already know I'm moving on from CBS News," Couric said at the end of the show. She adds that on that day, she'll take a look back at "some of the amazing stories we've covered over the past five years."
It seems likely that Couric will make the transition to daytime on ABC, hosting a syndicate talk show in addition to a role on "60 Minutes." According to the Hollywood Reporter, an official announcement could come as soon as her CBS contract is up on June 4th.
For now, substitute anchors will be rotating through Couric's empty seat at CBS until her permanent replacement takes over.

OK, I thought a permanent replacement for Katie was already announced? Isn't it Scott Pelley from 60 Minutes?
@who wants to know
I am with you on this one -- I am certain that I have seen and/or heard from a number of sources that Scott Pelley from 60 Minutes is indeed the new face of CBS Evening News.
If she gets a deal with ABC, she won't be contributing to 60 Minutes. The 60 Minutes contributions would be part of a deal with CBS, not ABC.
Most likely, she will go with ABC, which means no 60 Minutes. I'm guessing the 60 Minutes staff would prefer not to have her on staff. ABC, on the other hand, could give her some softball primetime specials like they've given to Oprah.
WOW - very bad reporting
I posted a comment about how bad the reporting was on this story. I guess you pulled it. It would've been better if you pulled the factually incorrect info from the story instead.
