'How I Met Your Mother': Don't look back in anger
Have you met Ted? He has a full head of hair, a great group of friends and he's ready to commit. So why is it so difficult for him to find a lasting relationship?
Well, for starters, there's a show called "How I Met Your Mother" that depends on his single-hood to stay on the air, but lets curb that for a moment.
Amid b-stories of Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) struggling to keep his job and arguing with his friends, Marshall (Jason Segel) continuing his pursuit to get his groove back and Robin (Cobie Smulders) just being about the funniest thing ever, Ted (Josh Radnor) and Zoey (Jennifer Morrison) finally reached the end of their surprisingly long road in the penultimate episode of Season 6, "Landmarks."
And to really drive the point home, each half of the doomed couple committed unforgivable acts so that we can go into the finale without any questions about a reunion.
Preserving our Ted's pristine character just a bit, it was Zoey who fired the first shot. Upon seeing her boyfriend backpedal in his plans to help her keep the Arcadian standing, she committed the ultimate betrayal by sharing the tape of their heart-to-heart at the Natural History Museum. In selling out his kind admission of affection for the building, she reveals herself to be distrusting and shady -- notice how she actually came to the hearing with the tape recorder all queued up! -- and, worse for us, she undermines the one episode where we really wanted to give her a chance.
Ted's retaliation isn't much better, but the "Ocean's 11"-esque precision with which he and the gang saw to it that the Arcadian's redeeming architectural flourish be dismantled and stolen was more desperate than vindictive. (Also: that lion goes surprisingly well with Barney's bedroom decor.)
Like we've known all season, Ted could only ever have the building or the girl. And though he clearly chose wisely, next week we'll see him at least considering trying to win Zoey back. Fortunately for all, their actions -- and Morrison finishing her commitment to the show -- ensure that this really is the end of Zoey.

Jennifer Morrison is great but I prefer in dramas.
Thank gawd that storyline is over because I came up with the solution last year, and they still didn't get it right. If the only thing about the Arcadian worth saving was the lion, then a REAL architect would've just incorporated that into the new design, whether on the new facade or in the lobby. He would NOT remove it and then give it to some male ho.
