'Glee': Prom changes everything for Finn, Kurt, Karofsky and Santana
Prom. A rite of passage for most teens. A night when everything can change -- as it did for Molly Ringwald in "Pretty in Pink" or when, as happened for poor Sissy Spacek in the "Carrie," things can go horribly awry. At McKinley High's junior prom -- which, by the way, was strangely devoid of Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) and Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) -- more than one character experienced an almost seismic shift.Four of the biggest:
Finn: Unless the writers threw us a massive red herring, Finn's (Cory Monteith) feelings for Rachel (Lea Michele) are stronger than ever. Strong enough to inspire violence in two people: Finn himself lunged at Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff) for not "keeping it PG" with Rachel. Then, in a total prime-time soap move, Quinn (Dianna Agron) totally b****-slapped Rachel for -- well, basically for existing.
Kurt: The kilt-wearing emotional center of the show learned something important at prom. Or thought he did and, instead, learned something completely different. What he thought he learned: That McKinley High's student body wasn't ready to accept him for who he is, a gay man. What he really learned: That McKinley High was totally ready to accept him for who he is, Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer), the kind of guy who can inspire a room to burst into laughter and applause by delivering the line: "Eat your heart out, Kate Middleton."
Santana: Santana (Naya Rivera) has had this realization once or twice before, but it was especially underscored when she didn't win the prom queen's crown: The girl just wants to be loved. Even if, as she says, she hates everyone else.
Dave Karofsky: Okay, well, maybe Karofsky's (Max Adler) change didn't exactly come at the prom and he didn't totally do a complete 180, but the guy did surprise Kurt (and us) with a genuine apology for having, you know, hate-crimed him for the past year.

FINN, STOP BEING A DOUCHEBAG. PICK ONE GIRL AND STICK WITH IT. STOP EMOTIONALLY CHEATING ON ALL YOUR GIRLFRIENDS! *******.
This show is out of steam creatively. Same story lines over and over. Characters regress just so the writers can rehash their "revelations" again. Seriously, this entire season has been circular, and when it's over, we'll be back where we started.
Correction @Liz: Will did appear in the episode. Towards the start of the episode, Figgins called him and Sue to his office.
Meh episode... The performances were ok. The believability factor was a fail of a stretch as it really a joke that Jesse would be welcomed back after what he did to Rachel when all the guys were ready to throw down last year. Although I felt that Finn's reaction to Jesse was beleivable, the writing decision to make Finn's feelings float between Quinn and Rachel (again) has been too forced. And as much as I've liked Kurt's story, I just didn't believe the outcome in the voting, as outside of Karofsky and his old gang, Kurt (and the glee club kids) have never been targeted in a hateful way, they've just been by and large ignored, and the outcome felt like more of Ryan Murphy's forced "gaygenda" story and Kurt's sainthood, although tonight's chapter was perhaps the most organic feeling of the entire story arc.
All good comments. Finn's vascilating is a prime example of circular storylines. And it is a major symptom of lazy writing and forced situations.
A critic I respect wrote six months ago that Glee was becoming just an excuse to sell music on itunes, i.e. that the narrative was suffering. I did not see it then, but I sure do now. I hope the creators renew their commitment to good writing/story telling, or more and more fans will continue to lose interest.
Time for the case to be promoted to their senior year. They can hardly pass to look like high school kids anymore.
"cast", not case. Sorry.
I'm sick of this gay sterotype, I have a story to tell on glee. I doubt Kurt would be named prom king in real life. This show has tanked! Please don't comment I hate gay people. I'm gay and I hate watching any sterotypes on any show.
I actually thought this was one of the best eps of the season, it was funny and moving and I actually cared about all of the people who usually are just one-dimensional jokesters.
And the music was fantastic too.
Glee has change so much... Season one was much better and original... This season not so good
