'Dancing With the Stars' winner Hines Ward planning touchdown dance for partner Kym Johnson
After 10 weeks of dominating the dance floor, Hines Ward and partner Kym Johnson took home the esteemed title of "Dancing With the Stars" champions for Season 12.
Zap2it was on the ballroom floor right after Hines and Kym got the news at the end of the two-hour finale, and he made it very clear to the press that he didn't go into the finale assuming anything.
"I looked over and I saw Kirstie [Alley]," Hines says of the final moments, after Chelsea Kane had already been eliminated. "I thought, oh jeez, everybody loves Kirstie. But it comes down to voting... It was the fans."
Hines appreciates the fans, though not as much as he does his partner. And she'll be getting a fitting tribute in the fall when Hines resumes his full-time job as wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"I'm doing a tribute to Kym every time I score a touchdown," he says. "You will see a 'Dancing With the Stars' routine somewhere in the end zone."
Won't that draw jokes from his teammates? "Now that I brought back this trophy, they can't say anything."
As for where the glittery prize is heading, Hines says he plans to put it right next to the Super Bowl MVP trophy in his house.

...of course Heinz 57 Sauce was going to win. Whenever an athlete makes it to the final 2 or 3, they usually win. Kristi Yamaguchi, Emmett Smith, Apollo Oni, etc.
What a joke! Chelsea should have won! It's obviously not a dance competition but a popularity contest. And don't get me started on Kirstie Alley making it to the finals. She should have been gone in week 3 or 4.
I agree, it is a popularity contest. In my opinion, it was a toss up between Chelsea and Hines. Both were deserving. As far as Kirstie Alley, judges wanted her in the final because of her fan base and ratings. Ralph should have been in the finals. Hope they do some major changes with the judges maybe at 2/3 voting and 1/3 popularity vote.
