'Dancing With the Stars' results: Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff will be outsiders at the finale
"Dancing With the Stars" graciously took care of the obvious work early on during the week 9 results show. Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward, Season 12's highest scorers, will compete in the finale. That left Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio as the duo vying for the last spot. They're the oldest and some of the least consistent contestants this season, and though they both have had their promising moments, the finale was never a guarantee for either of them.
But for Kirstie, at least, it's a reality. She and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy will progress to the finale, leaving Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff in their dust.
It's rough to see the "Karate Kid" go, but the right man went home. Ralph just hasn't kept up with his competitors since his injury two weeks ago -- and it's hard to argue with the scores.
And our readers. Again, Zap2it readers overwhelming predicted this week's elimination, with 66.7% of the vote.

Is is obvious that Carrie is so gushy over ALL the athletics who perform, regardless if they are good or not...TOO much favoritism on this show. Chelsea and Mark should win...Undoubtedly the best.
I agree. The judges have their favorites and sometimes the judging is totally unfair. Kirsti didn't do anything spectacular last night. All she does is wiggle her hips and make bird wings with her arms. I thought Ralph did pretty good and didn't deserve his score - and Kirsti certainly didn't deserve her score either. I'm through with this show until they change judges - and that will never happen.
At the end of the day I want Kirstie to win.. not because she is technically the best dancer... but given the place each dancer started from.. Kirstie, by far, has come the longest distance... she was the most out of shape and the oldest... not an in shape young girl or a seasoned football player... she has done amazing things!! transformed her bedy before us , gained stamina, and exicuted each dance with everything she could muster!
Shes a winner! regardless !
Ralph has style and elegance..he is quick footed and he dances circles around Kirsite,who has made fabulous progress but take away the wild hair and a shake here and then and she can't touch him. i like kirstie and she has done amazingly well..but they should judge "dancing" . the judges drive me nuts. i'm done with this show...and another one that shall remain nameless.
I seriously hope Mark and Chelsea don't win. I cannot stand Mark, he thinks he is so entitled. VOTE FOR HINES!!!!!!!
i have watched this show since the beginning, but am done after Monday night. It is obvious who the judges and ABC want to win. Ralph was hosed!!!
It was so slanted and obvious this season. Kirstie didn't even come close to dancing a jive, but received a 9. Ralph, in only the second week did an excellent jive. I really enjoyed it and he got 7's. Kirstie barely finished a danced and they were on their feet and gushing all over her. She looks stoned to me and she acts like a pig.
