'Dancing With the Stars': Ralph Macchio and his butt padding take on the semi-finals
Hey, any man who agrees to wear butt padding deserves a spot in the finals.Ralph Macchio and his professional partner Karina Smirnoff took on three dances during the "Dancing With the Stars" semi-finals -- the Argentinean tango, the salsa and the Winner Takes All cha-cha.
First up was the Argentinean tango and although his knee injury from last week wasn't completely healed -- "My knee's still a little sore -- it didn't hinder the couple's performance. What did hinder the performance was the judges' critiques. Bruno Tonioli said Ralph was "very stern and slightly detached" while Len Goodman said the dance "lacked a bit of emotion and didn't really smolder." Carrie Ann Inaba told him, "you have got to get the emotion in your face all the way done to your feet." Their Argentinean tango scored a 25 from the judges.
During the pre-performance package, we learned Ralph would be wearing putt padding in his pants for the salsa as Karina said he had a "petite booty." Funniest. "DWTS" moment. Ever.
Sadly, the padding didn't help much as their salsa garnered a lower score from the judges than the tango. Len said, it was "all too wild" and had "no real rhythm" and Bruno said it was "too rough." Carrie disagreed, saying, "Oddly, I liked it." The dance received a score of 23 giving the couple a total of 48 out of 60 points for the night.
For their last dance of the night, Ralph and Karina took on Hines Ward and Kym Johnson in the Winner Takes All cha-cha. The prize? An extra 15 points added to their score by the judges. Unfortunately, Ralph and Karina lost to frontrunners Hines and Kym, with the judges unanimously picking the NFL star and his pro partner.

Yes, I think Ralf should make it to the final. But I think Kirstie
should have been gone weeks ago.I don't understand why she consistently gets better scores than she deserves.
Ralph should go. If you really pay attention to his dancing without looking at cheap-call girl Karina, you can't tell he can't dance. It's so sad that he has to add butt pads to make it seem like he can shake his butt. MAKS and KIRSTIE!!!!!
Yes, I definitely think Ralph should be in the finals! Tonight was tough though. So much talent! Ralph has so much heart and he puts so much into the characters and the story behind each dance. Fingers crossed that his fans will support him and keep him in the competition.
Ralph Macchio's performance tonight was excellent. Bruno and Carrie think you have to disfigure your face to show emotion like the over-acting faces of other dancers. Ralph's emotion and attitude was just perfect for the dance. Stupid judges!
I am NOT surprised that they gave Ralph a hard time AGAIN. Watch carefully and see how MUCH better Ralph is than Hines. They felt sorry for Kym, who I think pretended with her neck. If it was that serious she would show signs (as did Ralph with his knee and still is). How do I know..because I am a dancer and have had many serious falls and I NEVER returned like Kym has. Ralph did a remarkable job, and Chelsea did just great. Hines seems like a nice guy, but he is really cocky and knows that he will be safe from the judges' perspective (especially Carrie Ann). As a dancer, I will vote based on improvement and technique and that goes to Ralph and Chelsea. My votes go to Ralph! DWTS - Shame on you to have an “classless and disgusting" person like Bruono says such things. Have you no shame? Children watch too? All ABC cares about is DRAMA and RATINGS. If Ralph and Chelsea stay, I'll watch, otherwise goodbye ABC. Ralph you have all my votes and then some!!
Ralph should definitely move on to finals. I love Kirstie, but she has been a favorite of Brunos no matter how she dances. She did well today, but in the past she danced poorly and received better scores than Ralph (when he danced well).Bruno has had it in for Ralph from the beginning. Bruno makes me feel like giving up the show. He disgusts me. Come on fans of Ralph, pull him through.
He's so dedicated and tries everything to please the judges to no avail.
Ralph has worked his bum off :) to make it to the finals. He is a way better dancer than Hines because he takes risks and actually dances unlike Hines who just walks around the floor smiling while Kim does all the work. The judges are biased and Bruno is shameless and filthy and has NO respect for women. The comments that he has made through out the season especially to Kendra were tasteless and uncalled for.
It's SO obvious the judges are biased. When they still had 6 couples, Ralph danced the difficult choreography with the young couples while Hines, Kirstie & Kendra did the slower, simpler moves. The judges dog Ralph over and over when he's dancing circles around Kirstie & Hines. I understand that Hines has a great personality and has done way better than any of the other pro football players I've seen on the show, but it's simply not fair for the judges to use one scale for Ralph and then a totally different scale for Kirstie & Hines. At least the fans seem to keep voting for Ralph. Based on dancing, Kirstie & Hines both should have gone home before Romeo. Is it fair to give Hines 2 sets of perfect scores when he's basically escorting his partner around while she does all the work? At least Ralph is out their risking and doing real kicks, etc. (WITH a bum knee). All 3 judges show blatant favoritism that you don't see on 'So You Think You Can Dance'. And YES, Bruno tries to be funny but is crude and inappropriate. I'm glad Karina actually said "Nice, really nice!" (sarcastically) in response to his rude remarks about her costume. Go Kirstie, you're an overcomer, but you haven't out-danced Ralph! Clearly Chelsea is the best one out there but doesn't she have the big advantage of youth? If the judges are going to make allowances for age or whatever and give some dancers a handicap, it should be applied to Ralph as well; he's got 9 years on Hines, right? I hope Ralph survives this week.
The judging last night was designed to elevate Chelsea's chances of making it through to next week. The "winner take all" was a gift to ensure that she doesn't wind up cut for lack of viewer votes, like Brandi did. Chelsea is probably the best dancer, but she should take her chances with the audience, the same as everyone else. It isn't all about dancing, after all. It is about endearing oneself to the audience to earn their votes. If you want to see a real dancing competition, tune in to SYTYCD.
As for Ralph, I don't know why he is being degraded by the judges. I was thrilled with his Argentine Tango, and in disbelief of the judges comments. They have really lowered themselves in order to manipulate the outcome of the semi-finals. And speaking of lowering oneself, can you imagine a more low class remark than what slid out of Bruno's mouth? He is despicable, and deserved to be slapped in the face. It reminded me of how he dissed Michael Bolton . Kudos to Ralph for keeping it together like he did, and bravo to Karina for putting Bruno in his place with dignity. Where would this pretender be if it weren't for the good nature of the celebrities who give their all every week? It's back to the chorus line for you, Bruno! You've blown your chance and can't be taken seriously any longer.
I think Bruno is inappropriate. The judges have decided to put down Ralph, no matter how well he dances. I think he's very good and definitely better than Kristie or Hines. Chelsea is the best out there, but Ralph is second best. I can't believe the judges say such complimentary things to Kristie and such nasty things to Ralph. I like Kristie and Hines, but they're not as good as Ralph or Chelsea.
