'Criminal Minds': Paget Brewster & A.J. Cook in, Rachel Nichols out
It would appear that the powers that be over at "Criminal Minds" have had some regrets lately. In the series' sixth season, cast members A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster were both let go. Fans of the series and cast members alike voiced their displeasure about the budget-related cast cuts.
Cook left in the second episode of Season 6, while Brewster lated until the second half of the season. Cook returned for Brewster's final episode, which was directed by co-star Matthew Gray Gubler.
Only, it turns out that it wasn't quite her final episode.
Now, backtracking on their decisions, the bosses have inked new deals for both Cook and Brewster according to TV Line. The phrase "came crawling back" comes to mind.
Brewster's and Cook's return comes at a price, though. Rachel Nichols, who effectively replaced Cook's character in Season 6, has been dropped from the series. Co-star Thomas Gibson is also still in negotiations.

Horrible to just fire Rachel just like that. What a horrible network!
It was horrible to fire AJ and Paget like that. Especially when you consider that they were both fan favorites. Why should Nichols be treated better for one season of CM than the ones who've been there for five years?
The entire network wasn't to blame for Cook and Brewster being let go; it was the show-runners. Its a shame TV execs think they need to "shake things up" to remain progressive. Don't they realize that 90% of the population like the characters they watch every week to remain on the show? How about employing some imaginative writing to keep the characters from getting stale instead of killing people off or ousting them, huh?
who say anyone is to blame let just be happy their both back
Disgusting actions by the CM Producers. First they decide to make changes, then don't stand behind their actions--and let the New Girl take all the heat. Then they scramble to bring back the Old Cast--and fire the New Girl...who they NEVER wrote a decent piece of dialogue for after the first episode. They should be very, very ashamed of themselves. And after Eric Messer's "tease" that Rachel would stay, I will NEVER respect or believe another word that comes from her mouth.

Yay for paget coming back.
BOOOOOO for aj's return. I was happy when she left, before we knew that Rachel's character is far superior in so many ways.
YES! Indeed, all is RIGHT with the WORLD :)
If it's pathetic that I'm so excited, I really could care less.
Criminal Minds is back to what it was always meant to be. Goodbye Seaver (never did bother to learn your first name). Nothing against the actress, but her role was a deadweight - she added nothing to the show.
CANNOT WAIT to see how this plays out - the team finding out she's alive, and hopefully the hunt for Ian Doyle ;)
Also, I don't blame the execs one bit for letting Nichols go. I know more fans who'd be disappointed had she been allowed to stay. I don't even see how they'd have handled having both her and AJ on the show together - the similarity in looks alone would throw many people off.
Alisha, hypocritical much? That's our point. They were jackasses to let the two of them go in the first place but now they've done the same thing again - they obviously havent learnt their lesson. Just because they did it to AJ and Paget doesnt mean it's okay and the Rachel should get the same treatment. As much as I love Paget/Emily and are indifferent towards Rachel and whatever her character's name is (seriously the blondes are interchangeable) - it's crap.
Yay! So glad they will both be back. The show just wasn't the same without them.
