'Brothers & Sisters' finale preview: 'An extraordinary ending,' says star

We know that "Brothers & Sisters" will be hitting some high notes in the Season 5 finale, but star Gilles Marini, who plays Luc, tells us that there will be some low ones, as well.

"The way that the finale was shot was an extraordinary ending," Marini tells Zap2it exclusively. "I watched it many times. I spent six hours in the editing rooms, because I wanted to watch it before. It was still a rough cut, but I found myself crying."

"It is maybe the best finale they've ever had," he continues.

Yet, the cast and crew of the show went into shooting the episode without knowing whether it will be back for a Season 6 and Marini tells us that was palpable on-set.

"There was a big thing hanging over our head and you never know if you'll see the people you work every day with again," he describes. "It was not like last year, absolutely not. It was completely different. We were all wondering, because last year we heard in March that we're back, so it was more relaxed, 'OK, we'll see you in July.' This time we were just hoping. It was different. That's why we worked really hard for the last three episodes to make it a big bang with a massive cliffhanger."

In the finale episode, Luc and Sarah's (Rachel Griffiths) wedding is upon them. Yet, Sarah had just discovered that Brody (guest star Beau Bridges) is her biological father. And while she wanted nothing to do with him, Nora (Sally Field) continues to see him.

"I'm extremely proud to be part of this finale," Marini tells us. "Whether we get married or not, you'll see. Sarah Walker is massively disappointed with her mom. She feels like she has no identity. She feels lost about who she is. She's very depressed, because of that. She has to get married, so again changing her identity somehow. It's very deep for her."

"There will be a scene when Rachel Griffiths and Beau Bridges have a moment," Marini adds. "It is so incredibly well played. Those two deserve an Emmy right there."

This is one of the best shows in years. With so many poor TV shows, it is impossible to think that anyone could consider not continuing such wonderful drama.
The show is so relavent and meaningful to so many who have complicated extended families.

It was hardly the best finale. It was sweet, nice, liked the voiceover with Nora at the end....But it didn't really feel like a Finale. And if it ends up being the series finale, I will be highly disappointed. They had time to prepare. They should have given the show an end that concluded the series, but left roots for another Season.

Season One was easily the best finale. Season Four was the second best Finale, and this one would come in about third place(Seasons Two and Three had very Lackluster Finales).

Good Episode None The Less, and it better not be the series finale.

Love this show!!! Hope ABC realizes what a GEM they have!

OMG- Why do they always get rid of the GREAT shows. I have watched every Brothers & Sisters show they have produce. And this last episode is definitely NOT an appropriate ending.Wake up ABC and look at the stupid shows your picking up.

I am amazed that ABC would cancel such a great show. I have watched since the show started and love the show. I hope you will reconsider and bring it back. Some of the other shows you are thinking about bringing back like Charlie's Angels "really?" Haven't we seen enough of those to last a lifetime?

I do not see why the networks cancel shows like "Brothers and Sisters" and continue to create "housewives" series. Why watch wealthy women compete, have cat fights and discuss mundane issues? Disgusting. I am on the verge of cancelling cable. The networks have lost me.

I agree the finale wasn't the best but Brothers and Sisters might not come back...You have got to be kidding. I love that show and look forward to watch it every Sunday. It is way better than all the crapy shows they have on TV...wake up ABC...its one of the best shows I have seen in a long long time

So sad that this wonderful series was cancelled. With all of the trash on tv, it was so refreshing to follow a series that mimicked real life. So many of the walker family problems were so relatable to many of us. Shame on the network for canceling. You don't know a good thing when it is right in front of your face. To have the caliber of actors int this series was a wonderful departure from so many of the less talented actors we see on a weekly basis. Wake up ABC....give us what we want and we will remain loyal

I really hate the shows out there and Brothers & Sisters was the only show out there that brought style, family issues, and taste to the table. WHY WHY WHY did it have to be cancelled, I am so sad about this decision. I guess all people care about are shows that mean nothing but trouble and senseless actions.
