Ashton Kutcher's 'Two and a Half Men' contract is just for one year

After the year that they've had, the team behind CBS and Warner Bros. TV's "Two and a Half Men" are understandably skeptical about committing to a new star for the beleaguered hit comedy.

The Wall Street journal reports (via Vulture) that Ashton Kutcher, who officially stepped out as the Charlie Sheen replacement at CBS' May 19 upfront presentation, has only signed a one-year contract with the series.

It should be noted that CBS has only licensed the series for another season anyways, but if it were to go on for 10th or 11th season, "Men" is free to tap another actor to join stalwarts Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones.

This also leaves Kutcher free to amicably jump ship, should chose too -- though we can't imagine why. He'll be bringing home a reported $20 million for the upcoming Season 9, over a likely 22- to 26-episode run. That cranks out to $750,000 for every episode and a few extra bonuses.

It's good to be Ashton Kutcher!...well done,man!

I hope it works out for him.

I wish Ashton the best in his being a part of the show. May he prove to be an asset and the show go on.

I hope he shaves off that awful beard.

That's a whole lotta money for someone that can't even act.....

It is astounding to me to see the pay differences between *movie* actors and *tv* actors.
If Ashton was an established and awarded television actor - he would be very lucky to be pulling down 400,000 an episode... but, because he is now regarded as a *movie star* - that money is over 750,000? That's crazy (but, it's business).

It is going to bomb.

He ain't worth that kind of ****!

1 season is enough time for him to distroy a classic show, they really think they have to sqweeze one more season out of this show.
