'American Idol' Top 4 rewind: Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta; Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze duets and more

idol-top-4-rewind.jpgZap2it has been looking back at the best performances from each stage of the "American Idol" finals and now we're taking a gander at the Top 4. This week on "Idol," the contestants get songs by Leiber and Stoller. But who are you favorites from the Top 5 phase of year's past? Vote below.

As of this writing, you've voted Carrie Underwood's "Alone" as the best Top 11 performance, David Cook's "Billie Jean" as the best Top 10 performance and David Archuleta's "Smoky Mountain Memories" as the best Top 9 performance, Adam Lambert's "Mad World" as the best Top 8 performance, Archie's "When You Believe" as the best Top 7 performance, Clay Aiken's "I Could Not Ask for More" as the best Top 6 performance and Carry's "God Bless the Broken Road" as the best Top 5 performance.

In looking back at the Top 4 performances, we are struck first by how much the Idol machine used some form of disco as a Top 4, which definitely worked out best for Season 3. And we also remembered how in love we have been with several of the Idol duets. We wish they would've started doing that earlier - a Carrie/Bo duet or a Daughtry/McPhee duet would've been awesome.

Also - there were a lot of good Top 4 performances. Guess that's why they made the Top 4, huh? So who wins your vote for the best Top 4 performance?

To me, any David Cook performance is the automatic winner. Don't get me wrong, I loved a lot of the other performances. Both of Adam Lambert's were fantastic. But Cook's voice and his perfect song choices can't be beat.

With Led Zeppelin's WLL, Adam presented something which had never been seen before on Idol-and he was superb. In his vocalization and in his performance, he was perfection. Just look at the faces of the audience when he finishes. Those girls were robots no longer.

Well they are all good, and I understand that at least one of these performances will be repeated live on the Coming 2 Hollywood talent reality show. I have seen some parts of season 1 and 2 which air in August, and season 3 previews are just starting on coming2hollywood.com - One of Randy Jackson's new protege's is apparently in the mix now!

Watching all these great videos sure reminds us who the most talented idols are! I get tired of having to chose - the songs and voices are all so different. I love archie's love me tender and alison's cry baby and carrie, adam & cook's songs. I give up!

Gotta agree ... all these performances were STELLAR ... why do we have to choose just ONE? But if I must ... then ADAM's 'Whole Lotta Love' has to be at the Top of my list of choices ... he really blew me away with his VOCALS ... STAGE PRESENCE ... etc.

Adam Lambert's got my vote!!! He's the best EVER!!!

My favorite here would definitely be David Cook. Man, he was great on that show (and since the show, too). I also really liked Crystal and Lee doing Falling Slowly. That was a high point in a fairly weak season.

Any bets on whether the Clay fans and their auto-dialers will be along shortly to taint yet another zap2it poll?

PS I don't know if you call it auto dialers for pc voting, but the concept remains the same - huge amounts of voting by a small number of people to skew results. I really wish zap2it would find a way to limit voting to a maximum number of votes (like 5) per location.

No one can touch the vocals, stage presence and charisma of Adam Lambert -- EVER! He is still the BEST!

the two davids and adam are untouchable.
