'American Idol': Major voting change on the way?

There could be another major change on "American Idol" next season, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe tells Zap2it.Lythgoe is careful to say he doesn't know that there will definitely be changes -- or if FOX would go for them -- but he wants to consider how votes are cast.
"I am going to be interested in listening to one device, one vote," he says.
That means people could cast their ballots for one act each week from a cell, or from a landline, but not call repeatedly, stacking the odds for their favorite singer.
One possibility Lythgoe is mulling over is having the voting done the way it is on his other show, "So You Think You Can Dance," where the Bottom Three are looked at by judges and the judges decide.
"Voting will be discussed," he says. "It is unique to Idol, the way we have it now."
Of course if voting is changed, Lythgoe says, "we would never be able to boast again that we had 72 million votes."

And that is why the voting will never change....because they like to "boast"about the 72 million votes!!!!! With Pia and now James being voted out, when those 2 should have been in the finals, a voting change is needed!!!!!!!!! :(
I totally agree with this. The results get totally skewed when the teen-agers vote mutiple times in multiple places for their favorites. The way it is now, it should be called American Teen Idol, I was disgusted last week when James was voted off.
When Pia was voted off I was disgusted, now James. I'm not interested in the finale, none of the three contestants deserve to be there. All of the tween voters are voting for Scotty.
That amounts to "The Save" every week.
Let America decide. Limit votes to 10 votes per device.
Nigel just wants to have more say on who stays in.
They should use the same voting method as DWTS - 5 votes allowed per phone. This way you can vote for your top 2 or 3 (especially in the beginning). JD (James) was my favorite from the first day he tried out, and honestly, I really couldn't care less who wins now. The 2 country singers will wind up in Nashville (there should be a 'Country Idol" show), and Haley will bring her jazzy style to her own followers, but as far as "American" Idol, I agree with the previous poster that the final 2 should have been Pia and JD.
why is 1 vote not enough, what happened to James is Idol did not have enuff people that follow his kind of music, as far as Pia, that was a travesty.... I think they should have 1 vote from each device and vote for the worst person, that would settle it....
I SO AGREE THAT THE VOTING SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE CHANGED ON AMERCIAN IDOL. IT IS SO UNFAIR THE WAY IT HAS BEEN. THE PEOPLE VOTING ARE DOING IT JUST TO VOTE AND ALOT OF THEM ARE VOTING WRONG ON PURPOSE. VOTING FOR THE WORST AND MAKING A JOKE OF THE WHOLE SYSTEM. THEY ARE PLAYING WITH PEOPLES' LIVES AND IT IS MORE THAN WRONG. I DON'T WATCH THE SHOW ANYMORE. WHEN PIA WAS VOTED OFF THAT WAS THE FINAL STRAW FOR ME. SHE WAS ONE OF THE BEST EVER ON THAT SHOW. I HAVE WATCHED FOR YEARS SEEING THE WRONG PERSON WIN. THE SAVE SHOULD BE USED ANYTIME AN OBVIOUS MISTAKE HAS BEEN MADE. THE VOTING SHOULD BE LIKE MORE ON "DANCING WITH THE STARS". I THINK THAT THE JUDGES SHOULD HAVE A SAY IN THE VOTING. I REALLY HOPE THAT THERE IS A VOTING CHANGE BECAUSE IF THERE IS, I MAY RECONSIDER WATCHING THE SHOW AGAIN. AS OF RIGHT NOW, I AM DONE.

You know the method of voting is not fair.Your going to loose your fans. I don't expect my favorite to win every time but some how we need improvement or we will not be watching. The remote is in our hand.
