What's a 'ginger'? 'Glee's' Emma has a soul, y'all.

jayma-mays-gi-320.jpgQ: On tonight's acceptance-themed episode of "Glee," Emma (Jayma Mays) talked about her ginger-ness being one of the "faults" she's come to accept about herself.

A: We love gingers!  Emma is, of course, referring to her red hair and the occasionally derogatory but often affectionate "ginger" nickname given to redheads.

She lamented the freckles and easily-sunburned skin that generally accompanies red hair, and even mentioned the pop-culture theory that gingers are actually soulless.

And from where did that theory arise? "South Park," of course. In the episode "Ginger Kids" which aired in November 2005, Cartman delivers a hate speech about classmates with red hair. The episode caused some controversy when it prompted bullying of redheads in some American schools.

Don't worry, ginger kids. We know you've got souls just like the rest of us.

In the end, Emma realized that she had some more significant obstacles to overcome in regard to her OCD. Red hair doesn't seem like such a big deal when you have to spend 48 minutes disinfecting any chair before you sit in it.

lover her!

This is dangerous territory, making fun of redheads because of the color of their hair and skin. Glee shouldn't even be going there. There is no difference between that than if they'd put it in the context of using the "N" word or other racial epithet. Hate is hate and it's got no place on prime time, or anywhere else.

glee is not making fun of redheads. emma was saying how being a ginger has been hard on her and she just said some things that people say about 'gingers' in general. it was good that tena pointed out to sentana that the comment on her eyes was extremely racist. glee is not being racist, the kids and teachers were talking about what they want to change but they can't because they were "born this way"

Glee is beeing racist. It's not the first time. We heard several times Sue saying mean stuff about redheads, another one saying she has kids with red hair and she's afraid to have others etc. Hate is hate. Stop saying we can accept it, gingers are the less pourcentage of the population so we can hate on them. Stop it! Especially in a show watched by young people that don't think by themselves, and will just make everything hard for ''gingers''. The is a problem that should be pointed.
