TV ratings: CBS tops Tuesday, 'Body of Proof' down but still leads hour

The "Dancing With the Stars" results show was down a good amount Tuesday compared to last week's show, and "Body of Proof" also fell from its premiere (though it was up from Sunday's special airing). Both still led their hours, but that wasn't quite enough for ABC to overcome CBS for Tuesday's top spot.

CBS delivered just under 14 million viewers and an 8.8 rating/14 share in households for the night, beating out ABC's 10.8 million and 7.1/11. NBC (6.45 million, 4.1/6) came in third. FOX took fourth, albeit with just 3.2 million viewers and a 2.1/3, and The CW (715,000, 0.5/1) trailed.

None of the networks turned in much of a number in the adults 18-49 demographic, but CBS led the way with a 2.7. NBC finished second at 2.4, edging ABC's 2.3. FOX scored a 1.1 and The CW a 0.3.

Watching Parenthood last night was really something. Wonder what's going to happen in the last episode before the finale on April 19 and NBC is still uncertain about the series' future until May.

Looks like CBS “The Good Wife” will be canceled. Last week they had an 18 – 49 rating of 1.9 and this week 2.0 that is sure cancellation territory on CBS. Even using the gimmick of using Michael J Fox to as a guest star this week, they still cannot draw 18 – 49 viewers.

Those that said that NBC “Parenthood” will be canceled next year will be proved right 1.8 last week and 1.9 this week in the 18 – 49 demo, combined with the heavy expenses to produce this show will get it canceled.

CBS “The Good Wife” had a lead in CBS NCIS: Los Angeles rerun with an 18 – 49 rating of 2.7 this week, This proves “The Good Wife” is WASTING the NCIS: LA lead-in. If it gets no benefit from the show doing a 3.5 last week and a 2.7 this week, “The Good Wife” has no business getting such a primo spot on the schedule. Look for CBS for Cancellation of “The Good Wife”

Body of Prove is starting the ABC fade. Send in the oxygen masks! I hope it sinks. Just keep Delaney off of DH!!!!

Hmm. Every Wednesday morning when the ratings are cited in this column, the same post appears with someone claiming that The Good Wife is going to be canceled. You boviously don't like it, but it's an established hit for CBS and isn't going to be canceled any time soon.

Another great episode about the Civil War on PBS Tuesday night. I did tape NCIS, so I'll watch that when nothing else is on. Which is most times. Nothing else worth wasting my time on.

Another great episode about the Civil War on PBS Wednesday night. I taped NCIS so I'll watch that when nothing else is on, which is most times. Nothing else worth watching otherwise.

can anyone explain to me why NCIS is so popular?

@ Cinder CBS “The Good Wife” last two weeks ratings 1.9 and 2.0 in 18-49 ratings is a failure on any network. Advertisers love the 18-49 demo, anything else is fluff. The 18-49 demo determines what the show can charge for commercials. If you look at what programs get renewed it is all about the 18-49 demo. Networks are in the business to make money, you take the advertising money plus syndication money (which “the good wife” will not make money on) and subtract the cost to make the show = profit. Networks want profit.

“The Good Wife” has a lot of viewers but they are very OLD viewers and they do not spend money on products. The 18-49 demo makes shows like the ones on NBC Thursday Night Comedies that have very low total viewers but a high amount of 18-49 viewers profitable and they get renewed.

CBS “The Good Wife” last two weeks ratings 1.9 and 2.0 18-49 ratings is a failure on any network. The Good Wife 18-49 ratings have been dropping since its first year; as they are at the end of their second season and CBS “The Good Wife” 18-49 are still dropping, and CBS needs room in its schedule for new shows they want to add, look for CBS cancellation of “The Good Wife”

I used to like Dana Delany, but no more. Agree, keep her off DH! And Body of Proof is awful. Simplistic, stupid writing, and wooden acting by face freezing is not acting, but that's probably the material.

The Good Wife is finely layered and one of the best shows. There are people in H'wood who are not 18-49 who like to see good shows and that alone has kept good shows on in the past even when ratings dipped. Let's hope that continues.

get a life people its tv...JUST tv! Concentrate on your families, your job, the economy! What shows stay or what shows get cancelled-who cares....enjoy life!!
