'The Paul Reiser Show': Was NBC's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' up your alley?
NBC debuted "The Paul Reiser Show" Thursday night (April 14). It is pretty much "Curb Your Enthusiasm" on NBC, complete with a cameo by "Curb" star and "Seinfeld" creator Larry David. What it seems like, though, instead of David's wealthy, neurotic, crotchety, awkward shenanigans that can be played out on HBO, is more of a look into the lives of stay-at-home dads led by the semi-retired comedian Paul Reiser. Reiser just isn't as interesting as David, plus the show is on NBC, which has more restrictions on content.
Did you like it? We aren't sure about it yet. The supporting cast was actually more funny than the Paul Reiser/Larry David stuff, we thought. We will give it a few episodes to really find the funny, but we aren't sure it'll get there.
It did make us nostalgic, though. Not only for "Mad About You," but also for "My Two Dads." Maybe NBC can bring those back.

It was terrible.
I liked it.
I actually found it quite funny. I wasn't that good, really, but some of the jokes just hit me. It's no 'Curb', but few are. I was good to clearly acknowledge that it was following 'Curb's' lead, so that elephant wasn't in the room. It's a million times better that the dreadful 'Perfect Couples'.
I'm sorry that they cancelled the hilarious Perfect Couples for this. Get rid of Reiser, and tailor the show around the supporting cast and it may work better.
I thought it was very good. Not LOL funny - but sly and amusing. Having Larry David sit there and say Paul Reiser in not that nice and is a bit of a douche was very funny !
And - to the person who wrote this -none of the other dads were out of work - just Paul.
The supporting cast was more interesting that Larry David's riffing??? Not. You people must be from one of those triple-decker-hamburger-loving fly-over states.
Bring back PERFECT COUPLES NOW! This was horrible! I Loved Perfect Couples. What are you thinking NBC!
Jeremiah, if they get rid of Reiser and tailor the show around the supporting cast, what would you call it -- Not The Paul Reiser Show?
It reminds me of the VERY early Seinfeld in that they weren't that great, but if you stick around it could turn into something that will hopefully be "can't miss TV."
Bring back Perfect Couples...it made me laugh out loud...this is just more of the same...why must you jump the gun and cancel something original and replace it with something that has been done with an old has been actor?
