'The Biggest Loser': Close, but no Courtney

biggest-loser-courtney-eliminated-nbc.jpg
Tuesday's (April 5) elimination on "The Biggest Loser" even touched our black jaded hearts. One of our favorites and we're sure one of yours had to leave, because she couldn't break through a plateau that has been haunting her for three weeks now. Before we get to Courtney's emotional goodbye, let's do a quick recap of events.

The show started off with a challenge. The teams had to race to find and identify the one-mile marker on a dirt path. The Black Team (Hannah, Rulon, and Jay) wins the pop challenge and a controversial reward: A night to paint Hollywood red. It's a dangerous prize, sure, since they can either Charlie Sheen it up or Betty White it down. In the end, they were "Golden Girls." Hannah ended up spending the night across the table from a very strange dude who was lured to the cameras. Hollywood, remember? The rest of the cast had to stay behind at the ranch and clean the disgusting house.

We'd have to say that nutrition was this week's theme. Jillian had a surprising heart-to-heart (instead of an old-fashion a** whippin') with Rulon about his nighttime binge eating. Also, Bob brought in his team's favorite fattening foods to show them how they can still eat them in the real world with substitutions for the topping (a big peacock thanks to our sponsor, Wholly Guacamole!). And Brett had to adjust Courtney's calories and workout to try and conquer the plateau, which has been haunting her.

The weigh-in was a nail-biter as everyone's bodies have stopped registering the big weight loss numbers. Despite their night out in H-wood, the Black Team hit some relatively high numbers. The Blue Team is able to beat Black's percentage of weight loss and is safe. The Green struggle a bit as everyone loses less than their usual poundage, which places the Black Team in the safe zone.

Now, it's all up to Courtney who only needs to lose two pounds to send the Green Team to elimination. She and Brett had been targeting her plateau problems all week, so this would determine if they were successful. And boom! Courtney only pulls a one-pound weight loss - which shatters the group. Jillian even did her patented dry cry.

Courtney of the sweet face and pretty eyes is the kind of person we think this show was made for. She was inspiring and determined to reach her goals, already coming into the competition having lost more than 100 pounds. So, we're sad to see her go, but we think she'll do great at home - changing one Dairy Queen at a time.

p.s. Brett had to leave, too. Eh.

Were you disappointed in Courtney leaving?

I am so sad to see her go. I can't believe she lost more than 200+ pounds. Knowing she lost 100 pounds before entering the show I think she will continue to as she goes home. I can't wait to see her at the finale.

So sad. Courtney was the one I was rooting for since the very beginning. Now I just hope she wins the at-home competition.

Anyone else think the guy hitting on Hannah was either a plant or just trying to get his face on national TV? Not that she didn't look great, but it just seemed a little too awkwardly convenient.

I don't like either of the new trainers, but I would rather have seen Cara leave.

I thought "The Biggest Loser" show was about helping people like Courtney !! Instead we see her leave! This is a 22 year old that lost weight before arriving on the ranch. Courtney proved / showed she was AND still Very serious about staying healthy and losing the weight. I know she will be able to continue her journey at home...but it would have been Much better for her to have stayed on the RANCH! There are contestants there that have lost enough weight that they should have already been gone. I think the shows producer needs to sit back and take a look at what they are doing wrong, Example: Have the Million grand prize be at home and the hundred thousand prize be on the Ranch. There is also so Much favoritism among alot of the contestants when it comes to "Voting" this is Not fair. You have people there that need to to be there !! The Rules of this Game show needs to be changed.Have the producer give me a call and I can discuss this further. Thank you, Janet

I loved Courtney and I will really, really miss her. She was one of the biggest reasons I loved this season so much. This group of people is probably the best Biggest Loser has seen, for the most part they all seem to have more integrity than other seasons and genuinely care about each other, but I agree that the people who have basically "topped out," and aren't going to lose any more weight should be the ones going home.

Yeah, that guy hitting on Hannah was *weird*!!! You've gotta wonder :)

I told my husband the guy at the restaurant looked a little weird too. They sure milked Courtney going home. I thought it was way overplayed.

I was sad, too, to see her go, but I didn't understand what Bob thought he'd accomplish by his little speech afterward -- what did it help when nothing could be done about it at that point?

I wonder if this means Brett is gone for good or if they'll bring him back later when the teams divide again or go to individuals. If they're trying to decide between Brett or the new girl trainer to replace Jillian next season, I'd prefer Brett.

I did like that Jillian had a serious discussion with Rulon about rewards and feeling deprived rather than just railing at him, because that's what most dieters wrestle with.

I appreciated Bob's mention of empathizing with Brett -- that's the first time I had ever heard him even acknowledge him.

Honestly, this week seemed almost designed to send Courtney home. They knew she was having trouble and they still kept her on a team by herself even though they changed up the teams what seemed like every other episode this season. I was expecting them to mix things up AGAIN rather than have a team of one (struggling) person trying to compete against teams of three.

That was the first time I recall that I've ever seen all the players, all the trainers AND Ali that upset and emotional at a player leaving.

Sad indeed, but Courtney is on the right path.

Seeing Jillian's reactions keeps on reminding me that this is her last season and that I am going to really really miss her. If Brett leaving means that it may be just Bob and Cara for next season, I think that I will puke.

Cara has to go!!!

i think the show has become more about winning money than what it was intended for. loosing weight is a battle and what the show has been for me is an inspirational journey seeing people over coming obstacles and taking back control of their lives.
right from the beginning of this season i didnt like the feel of the two new trainers. i knew things were not going to go well. over the last couple weeks we have seen people who should have gone home long ago, (hayley) and the ones who truly need to be there on the ranch HAVE BEEN SENT HOME. (ARTHER AND COURTNEY)
i have to eat my words. i think brett is a good trainer. as for cara, i see her there just for the sake of being on the show and getting her face on tv. she is fake! and she will never be anything like jillian. so she can stop trying to be.
i am totally disgusted with how the show has turned out. i think it is time to take it off the air, because now the message is $$$$$ and not about getting healthy and taking back control of your life.

there is a great show i just found and started watching called heavy... you should take a look at it. that show to me has become what the biggest looser was. there is great love and support for the people on the show who have made the choice to get back their lives and there isnt any $$$$ involved.. just becoming healthy.
americans have this way about if there isnt money in it for them they wont be part of it. thats why america will always fat overweight an too stubborn to change things for themselves before its too late.

to jillian, i wish you luck in your future plans. you have always been an inspiration to me and many many other people.
