'Supernatural': Season 7 likely, plus - will Sam and Dean continue to get along?

spn-sam-dean-titanic-walk.jpgLike every "Supernatural" fan, we at Zap2it are breathing a sigh of relief now that Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are back on good terms, being honest with each other, and doing what they do best.

Of course, after six seasons, we know better than to assume that will last very long. Right?

We spoke with executive producer Robert Singer, and he says that in the remaining episodes of Season 6, Sam and Dean aren't going to turn on each other. "There are no obstacles in the sense of their relationship to each other," he tells us. "It's always been our plan that we'd rip them asunder in the first half of the year, mend that relationship, and then have it grow over the remainder of the season. That's really what we've done."

That said, things aren't about to get easier for our boys by any means. "There are some big obstacles that one of them has to overcome as we get nearer to the end," he says. He also confirms that Lisa and Ben, Dean's pseudo family from his year without Sam, will return in a very "interesting, high-stakes" way.

When we last saw the Winchesters and Bobby, they were holding a funeral for their friend Rufus (Steven Williams), one of the more emotional deaths this season. We will revisit the implications of his demise. "We talk about it," Singer says. "There's a certain amount of onscreen grieving, but it doesn't really carry episodes. We're really sort of running toward the end here, and we've got a lot of ground to cover of this mystery we've told throughout the year. We thought that was a really great episode, but we wanted to follow it up with something that had more humor and lightness to it."

The show returns tonight, Friday April 15, with an all-new episode titled "My Heart Will Go On," a more lighthearted episode about what happens when the angel Balthazar decides to go back in time and prevent the Titanic from sinking. (He didn't like the movie.) Oddly enough, the episode airs on the 99th anniversary of the tragedy.

"That's a weird coincidence that I was not even aware of," Singer says when we mention it. "Now you're scaring me."

The final two episodes of the season air May 20. Hopefully, it won't be the last we see of the Winchesters. The CW hasn't picked up any shows for its 2011-2012 season yet, but Singer says the chances of a Season 7 of "Supernatural" are good, and they wrote the finale with the intention of it leading into a seventh season.

"We're feeling confident [about Season 7]. Everybody tells us to feel confident. Whereas last year was the end of a five-year story, this year we told a 22 episode story that has a beginning, middle, and end to it," Singer says. "We've accomplished that. Having said that, we do have a cliffhanger at the end of 22, and that's sort of based on the fact that everybody assures us we're going to get picked up."

Thank you so much for this interview, Carina!

As a fan who watch the show specially because of the brothers relationship, I'm very, very, very happy to read this.

I'm nervous about the cliffhanger and anxious for a 7th season announcement. Please, The CW, announce it already!

I absolutely LOVE this show! Thank you so much for the great interview! I can't wait for the rest of the season and for season 7!! I want to see more of Dean, Sam, and Cas!!

YAY. God, thank you. I couldn't take another Sam v. Dean moment -- season 4 and 5 and the beginning of 6 was MORE than enough.

Sorry, Bobby, but there is absolutely nothing that could possibly be interesting or high stakes that concerns Lisa/Ben. That is a failed, boring storyline that should have never been introduced into the show and it has danged near ruined Dean's character, save for the efforts of Jensen.

I sure would rather read interviews with Bobby Singer than Sera, though, so thanks for that.

I love you Dean. Please marry me!

Boo to Lisa and Ben. The only way I would remotely care about seeing them is if they're the two unexpected deaths in the season finale, and then only if they're perma-killed and we never have to see them again. The set up for that storyline was stupid, and who can really care about a character who has no backstory, no personality, no dimensions at all, and whose only purpose is to answer the door when Dean knocks?

I agree with Jennn. Lisa and Ben SUCK.

If there is a season 7 I like the wild bunch idea Robert Singer mentioned I'd like to see Walt and Roy meet up with the guys -the hunters who killed them in Dark Side of the Moon.I'd like to see the guys get all Butch & Sundance...By the way what happened with John's storage?

For what Supernatural is concerned, if fans want to be humiliated and made fun of for yet another season they can go ahead. Definitely if there is a next one I am not going to be watching. Jensen and Jared are just losing good opportunities for their carreers to move forward, and Misha Collins could move on too. It's just too boring and embarrassing.

To: USER, Really if you don't like Supernatural stop watching it, your comment is just annoying, if you don't like it what are you doing here reading interviews and spoilers?. Supernatural season 6 is awesome and yay! Lisa and Ben are back I like them, please writers don't kill Lisa and Ben please
