'Real Housewives of New York's' Jill Zarin: 'I needed to regroup and re-center'

It would be an understatement to call the last season of "The Real Housewives of New York" difficult for Jill Zarin.
It was a polarizing season as fans who used to love the duo of Jill and Bethenny Frankel were forced to choose sides as their friendship unraveled on the show. But, Jill says her relationship with the show's fans is on an upswing.
"There's no question that I think a lot of fans who questioned their feelings about me have come back to the nest," Jill tells Zap2it.
"I think because there were a lot of influences last year and that's last year," she adds. "The good thing about TV is people have a short memory and make decisions and such based on what they see in front of them at the time."
Jill has a metaphor for the relationship she has with her cast mates, which she says resembles summer camp.
"I sort of visualize the show like the seven of us are in a bunk," She explains. "And some of them will be your best friends. Some of them you'll like a lot. And some of them it will be harder to get along with."
"We're all in the same bunk," she continues. "So you do the best you can to try to get along with everybody all the time and it doesn't always work, but you try. And I think that's different between this year and last year is that I believe everybody on the cast tries to get along. It doesn't always work, but tries."
So, what went wrong with Bethenny? "Last year, I don't believe that was the case, because Bethenny was leaving the show and she had no reason to keep trying," she explains. "She was moving out of the bunk. She knew she wasn't coming back next summer, so she didn't have to make up with anybody."
This season, she says she came back to show "the real Jill" after being encouraged by her family, friends, and fans, and after taking a couple much-needed breaks from the public eye.
"I spent a lot of time with my family and decided to come back to the show because I didn't want to leave on a down note," she says. "I needed to regroup and re-center."
So, while she'll have to watch what happens as the season unfolds, Jill says she happy with what was shot for Season 4.
"I felt healthier going into this season and better about everything," she tells us. "And I really enjoyed filming probably the most this season of all the four seasons for many reasons."
"The Real Housewives of New York" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo.

So what Jill is saying: Viewers are stupid with short attention spans.
yeah, right......whatever...
Great interview. I love Jill's perspective and agree with her assessment of season 3. TEAM JILL!!
A person with short-memory span might be Jill Zarin herself. Who was the one who didn't want to mend a friendship and kept refusing to talk with Bethenny, while B approached this nut numerous times??? Stop twisting a story, already!
Sorry Jill, but our attention spans aren't as short as you think and we aren't as dumb as you think: We can all see what a liar you are.
Jill seems to be following the FoxNews mantra of, if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth. But people with brains don't fall for that.
Jill has told lie after lie, has never taken ownership of her own nasty behavior - which was ON CAMERA for all of us to see, and she continues her nastiness to this day, with every interview she does.
The rift was caused by Jill, who was jealous of BEthenny's success, and who sought to freeze Bethenny out and sabotage her new show. But it didn't work. The audience all saw Jill for what she really is, and all realized that the ONLY reason anyone liked her in the first place was because of her proximity to Bethenny.
And why did Jill return? Seriously? Because the cameras returned and she wants the 'fame' and money - and her ultimatum, the ultimatum that she gave Bravo (that they get rid of Alex or she wouldn't return) didn't work, so she had to slink back.
Jill is just a horrible person and we can all see that unfolding on camera.
Bethenny didn't try to make up with you? What an idiot! She even went so far as to trick you into seeing her so you would be forced to talk to her about their issues. This woman will never get it because she doesn't want to. So sad.
WOW!!! Delusional !!! She was an idiot then and remains one now. Glad Bethenny went on to bigger and better things! Team B!
You know how to spell Spin on the Real housewives of NYC...JILL
Jill is the most jealous woman on tv. SHe's jealous of Bethenny's success, Alex's body, Ramona's business savvy, Juanne's independence and Kelly's, well nobody is too jealous of her except for air trying to get out of her lungs. Jill is pathetic and needs her own show on the Selfish Network to show people what a true narcissist really looks like.
At the beginning of the first season I really liked Jill, but it didn't take long before that fell away. The first time being when her dear husband gives her a Mercedes on her birthday and she PICKED THE WHOLE THING APART.....no ipad doc???
As the season progressed her ego really opened up......I don't see any difference in her despite her protesting that she is always "tells the truth".
