Rachael Ray 'really excited' about 'One Life to Live,' 'All My Children' replacements

rachael-ray-jan-2011-gi.jpgRachael Ray has much more than a casual interest in ABC's new daytime plans.

The popular food expert's syndicated weekday show airs on many of the network's affiliates, so the cancellations of the long-running soap operas "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" may impact the Daytime Emmy-winning "Rachael Ray" with the arrivals of the replacements: the food-oriented "The Chew" in September, and the lifestyle-focused "The Revolution" in January.

"I think it's exciting," Ray tells Zap2it on Friday (April 15) at the site of her annual cooking show that benefits the Alumni Association of her alma mater, Lake George (N.Y.) Jr.-Sr. High School. "My good friend Mario Batali and Michael Symon are going to be part of 'The Chew,' and I'm thrilled to see them join the roster."

Also with Oprah Winfrey's imminent departure from syndication and Regis Philbin's upcoming exit from :"Live! With Regis and Kelly," Ray knows how much the daytime scene will be changing around her.

"I will miss Regis, of course, but I will be excited to see Kelly Ripa with her new partner in 2012  I'm a big fan of Anderson Cooper, and he's coming to daytime. I'm a big fan of Katie Couric, and she may be coming to daytime. Those will be fantastic afternoon shows, but I'm interested to see who joins up in the A.M.

"In a lot of markets, we are next-door neighbors to 'Regis and Kelly' and 'The View,'" Ray adds. "I always say, 'The more, the merrier.' The cable and syndication landscapes are blurred, and I think there are more than enough viewers and customers out there for everybody. I'm really excited to see a lot of the new shows."

WTH?! Really, how insensitive!!

Signed By: FormerRRFan.

Wow, could this be anymore insensitive. People lost their jobs, their livelihood,& Ms.Ray is excited.Another show I'll be taking off my DVR. I guess pretty soon I won't be watching ABC at all.

The only thing she should be "really excited" about is that her show didn't get canned after its lackluster ratings.

And with that insensitive comment, considering how many people just lost their jobs and how long the cancelled shows have been a part of people's lives, Rachael Ray just lost my casual viewership.

Sorry Rachael, but I'm putting you in the garbage bowl.

It's a little too early Rachael to be talking like that. That was kind of a slap to the face to a lot of people who viewed daytime differently. I definitely find no interest in any of the new shows and will not be watching them. I mean -how many different talk/lifestyle/food shows are the networks going to throw at us. They are incredibly boring. I can't even get through four hours of the Today show. Way too much garbage on the broadcast shows now.

How offensive and rude. The last thing network television needs is another cooking or reality show. Ray doesn't sound very bright or sensitive. Nice to know I am not missing anything by never watching her.

Rachel Ray is so tacky and insensitive. Glad I've never watched her show. Never will.

All My Children and One Life to Live have hugely loyal audiences. Cancelling the shows for cheap, uncreative programming was a huge mistake.

Happy you and your employees have jobs you love. Just remember you are getting this opportunity on the backs of fans who've lived with these soaps all their lives. It was an everyday presence and escape for millions. So don't throw glitter when they are still shedding tears. Not cool.

I can't believe the stupidity of Ray's statement. She has to be the only one out of millions of viewers who is excited to see these soaps replaced.

what a selfish idiot. I've heard that about her and this rings true. too bad.
