'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' welcomes Julia Ormond for final season

julia-ormond-gi-320.jpgThe final season of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" will feature one more character trying to get into people's heads.

Emmy winner Julia Ormond ("Temple Grandin") will guest-star in all eight episodes of the final season as a police psychologist. Her character, Dr. Paula Severin, is tasked with helping Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) "unravel his tortured past and chart a course for mental stability."

No small task, that.

"Criminal Intent" brings Goren -- last seen being fired for insubordination -- back into the fold  through the Major Case Squad's new captain, Joseph Hannah (Jay O. Sanders), who has known Goren since they were police academy recruits. The sessions with Dr. Severin are presumably a condition of his return.

Kathryn Erbe is also back for the final season as Goren's long-time partner, Alexandra Eames.

Ormond's recent credits include the films "Che" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and recurring parts on "Nurse Jackie" and "CSI: NY."

"Criminal Intent" returns to USA on Sunday, May 1.

I remember her in "Legends of the Fall" and "Sabrina" (with Harrison Ford) - but Benjamin Button??? Don't think so....

Ahhh yes, I remember now... She was the daughter in the beginning (reading the diary) small part for her but love her anyway

I remember now - she was the daughter reading the diary in the beginning of Ben Button - she's great!

I remember now - she was the daughter reading the diary in the beginning of Ben Butt - she's great! But I'm an idiot!

Final season? I haven't heard USA billing it as such. . . bummer, was hoping this was going to continue for a couple of more years.

Final season? Oh no! I love to watch Goren and Eames. They are my definition of a great team.

really wish this was not the end of this great show.i would love it if it was only 8 eps... till the next year...thats how great it is and how much i love it

What's wrong with USA, don't they know to keep a great show. They get you hook on a show that you follow faithfully and then BANG, its going off the air. They keep this up and I'll be looking to watch another network. There's plenty out there to choose from. Goren and Eames are a great team, they have what it takes to make a pair that compliments each other. This really stinks USA...GET A REALITY CHECK !!!!!!! a very unhappy camper.....

I have been a fan, and still am, of Law & Order CI episodes from the very beginning. I enjoyed it on NBC but really enjoyed it on USA...which is fast becoming my favorite network. PLEASE please, continue with
D'Onofrio and Erbe...great actors and great adult episodes. Might add, great audience too. I read someplace **** Wolf doesn't share the audience's feelings about this show...hope he will show us how wrong the rumor is, by continuing a splendid winner. My thanks. lulu996[
