Hines Ward and Kym Johnson conquer the paso doble on 'Dancing With the Stars'
When one hears an audience boo a contestant on a reality show, it's generally not a good thing. Luckily, Hines Ward seemed to be the exception on "Dancing With the Stars" on Monday, Apr. 11.The NFL all-star tackled his biggest challenge in the competition yet: Classical Week, in which he took on the paso doble. Ward expressed his concern in the package before his dance, saying he was traveling a lot and lost a day of rehearsal.
"Hines has so much potential and with the competition this close, I really have to push him," his professional partner Kym Johnson said. She clearly did something right because the duo performed a stellar and exciting paso doble that had the audience standing on their feet.
What did the judges think? Len Goodman said, "You are the most determined contestant. You come out every week 100%." Bruno Tonioli said he was "truly explosive" and Carrie Ann Inaba gushed, "You were in the zone. You nailed it."
Carrie awarded the pair a 9, while Bruno and Len scored the dance an 8. After receiving a 25, the audience proceeded to boo the judges, clearly believing the couple deserved a higher score. You know what? We agree with the audience -- he deserved at least one more 9!
What did you think of Hines' paso doble, Zappers?

Anyone know the song he danced to? Need it on my iPod
I thought that he deserved better scores too. He really is doing great!

Either Hines scores were low or other contestants received very generous scores. For example Bruno gave both Hines and Kirstie an 8. Perhaps they don't want a run away winner so early?
i think the judges short changed hines and kim.. they were the better dancers tonight. they should have at least another nine.... but you know ,, hines isn't going anywhere.. he may very well take this competition..... good luck hines and kim...
deb - a huge steeler fan
It was Bond's "Explosive"
Great song. I was impressed by the arrangement and the dance!
Not a Pittsburg fan nor a fan of Ward, but theirs was THE BEST dance of the nite. AND, when a judge says, you NAILED it" why isn't that a 10??
AND, ALL the music on the show was fabulous! I'd like to get a download of it.
Hines and Kym got burned bad last night. That performance looked flawless to me. They should be on top in a tie with Ralph and Karina. Chelsea and mark deserved to be a close 2nd but not on top. I think their score was basically a makeup call for the horrific score they got a couple of weeks ago when they should have had much higher scores. Either way there was definitely no more than one point separating 1st from 2nd place. But yeah, the steeler faithfull with the rally towels in the audience said it all and the standing ovation for Hines was icing on the cake.
a double pittsburgh yoi for hines and kim! again hines' professional apptoach and graciousness made us so proud ! congratulations !
Hines and Kym deserved 9s across the board - and maybe a 10. The dance was just electric! Something is wrong here when Kirstie gets an 8 and so does Hines. He was, by far, the best dancer last night. If I was there I would have been booing, too. The judges deserved it.
