Glenn Beck on FOX News show: 'I didn't want to do this'

Just a few hours after official word came down from FOX News that Glenn Beck would be ending his daily series later in 2011, Beck offered his explanation to viewers during his April 6 broadcast.

"This is something that I've been thinking of for a very long time," says Beck. "When FOX was generous enough to offer me the time at five o'clock, I originally didn't take them up on it... One of the reasons was, I didn't want to do this."

Beck goes on to say that he doesn't like conflict but felt his message had to be delivered. And he feels that part of his mission is complete.

"When I took this job, I didn't take it because it was going to be a career for me," he says. "Paul Revere didn't get up on the horse and say 'I'm going to do this for the rest of my life.' He didn't do it. He got off the horse at some point and fought in the revolution -- and then he went back to silver-smithing."

We hear silver-smithery is a hard trade to break into these days. But we're sure there's a chalkboard factory somewhere that would be thrilled to have him.

Always trying to compare himself to the founding fathers...Disgusting!!

As usual, that's far from a perfect historical comparison to make. (i.e. look up Israel Bissell.)

Beck is an amazing human and will continue to be successful at everything he does. He is not afraid and that's where his strength comes from no matter how many people are paid to destroy him. We need more people like him.

What if some of the things he is predicting do come true? It will be interesting to see if Fox and those from their audience who ridicule Beck today will have the courage to admit they were wrong and he was right.

Oh, I'm not paid to destroy him, JPM. I hate him completely on my own accord.

Biggest F'ing IDIOT in the history of idiots. Good riddens to this scum bag. All he does is spew blind propaganda...

Amazing how anyone can believe anything this man has to say. When FOX NEWS tells you that you are to extremist to remain on their network it is saying A LOT. While I don't agree with them, at least Bill O'Reily has legitimate points of view that many people share. Beck simply spews hatred and conspiracy theories and is probably a big reason why people like Jared Loghner do the things they do.

Some people simply WANT to believe their stupid opinions are correct so they'll happily believe anybody spouting the same opinions, even if those imbecilic opinions include lying, practiced crying and pretending you're not having a show you are desperate to do taken away from you for low ratings. Furthermore, he may be the only person on the planet that LOVED the Spider-Man musical.

Good luck, Mr Beck. Anyone who actually watches his show or knows him outside of the show knows he's one of the most genuine people you'll ever meet. You may not like what he's saying, but he truly believes in it. The isn't a phony ounce in that man's body.

Beck pays his employees better and gives them better benefits than almost any other host on Fox News. And his whole "9-12 Project" was funded completely by him and all of the money raised went to charity. He's the real deal, folks.
