Glenn Beck is leaving the Fox News airwaves.Beck's company, Mercury Radio Arts, and Fox News announced a new deal Wednesday (April 6) in which Beck will "transition off of his daily program" later this year. He'll continue to work with Fox News, though, developing and producing other TV projects and content for the channel's digital platforms.
Beck's show is one of the most-watched in all of cable news, averaging 2.2 million viewers in its two-plus years on Fox News. But his controversial brand of news commentary has also cost him advertisers; as TV Newser puts it, "Beck's much-reported troubles with the advertising community are believed to play a role in the decision" to leave.
He still has a daily radio show and a multimedia empire, so he's hardly disappearing from the media landscape.
"Glenn Beck is a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anybody's standards," Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes says. "I look forward to continuing to work with him." Beck returns the compliment, saying, "I cannot repay Roger for the lessons I've learned and will continue to learn from him, and I look forward to starting this new phase of our partnership."
There's no word on who gets custody of the chalkboard.

Beck is losing his mind, knows it, and it scares him to death. This is his way of gearing down in an attempt to preserve what little sanity he has left.
It seems like the Glenn Beck fans are just as paranoid and delusional as he is and can only type using Republican buzz words. Yes, I'm sure he's going to take over the world next. Maybe Trump and Beck can even run together in 2012.
Facebook and Google have already started campaigning for Our Dear Leader....Maybe they think they can erase our memories of the past two years...nice try.
This sounds like something of a face saving strategy to me. Saying you're going to be working on other projects for the network is what CNN said about Larry King when they asked him to leave. This is just to allow Beck to leave with some miniscule shred of dignity, if he ever had it.
