'Girls Night Out': Loretta Lynn's 'Coal Miner's Daughter' tribute closes the show
"Girls Night Out: Superstar Women of Country" was a country music lovers dream come true Friday night (April 22) on CBS. So many big names were in the house and the performances were out of sight. To cap off the already-wonderful concert, honorees Martina McBride, Naomi and Wynonna Judd, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire and Jennifer Nettles took to the stage to pay tribute to one of the first female country legends - Loretta Lynn.
Loretta couldn't be with them that night due to recent knee surgery, but she taped a video message and then the wonderful ladies joined in a group sing on Loretta's autobiographical 1969 hit "Coal Miner's Daughter." They could not have picked a better closing number.
Other highlights included Rascal Flatts and Reba jamming on "The Heart Won't Lie," Little Big Town and Martina McBride on "When Will I Be Loved," rock legend John Fogarty and Wynonna on "Proud Mary," Miranda Lambert and two newcomers Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley on "Hell on Heels" and Carrie Underwood and Vince Gil absolutely slaying "How Great Thou Art."

Reba was my favorite of the night, but it was simply a great night for country music.
Why didn't Carrie have a solo part in Coal Miners Daughter?
June, I was wondering the same thing about Carrie not having a solo part when they sang Coal Miners Daughter.

Also went to bed wondering why
Carrie Underwood wasn't allowed a solo part during Coal Miner's Daughter. Seemed she was being snubbed by the others - you could see it in her eyes at the very end.
Carrie Underwood was awesome last nite and if the honorees didn't want her to be involved in the "Coal Miner's Daughter" honoring Loretta Lynn, would have been less hurtfull if she just wasn't on stage. Typical jealousy from certain honorees in my humble opinion... We love you Carrie you have an amazing voice, and you were robbed if you asked me.
Oh come on, snubbed? You don't think the parts aren't worked out beforehand by the producers? Maybe she just couldn't make the rehearsal for the song or was worried about her voice being strained after being the last to sing. Having attended the rehearsals, everyone is a fan of everyone else on that show. The only animosity is among the stupidly catty fans!
I don't think she was snubbed at all. I think her voice was strained after her outstanding performance with Vince Gill.
Say what you want, but there's something wrong with Carrie not having her turn in the finale.
I believe her voice was strained, hoarse from singing HGTA. She wasn't snubbed
