Et tu, Meredith? Vieira reportedly pondering 'Today' exit
While speculation continues to swirl around whether (and when) Katie Couric will depart the "CBS Evening News," there's word that the woman who replaced Couric on "Today" may be moving on too.Meredith Vieira is looking to leave NBC's morning show when her contract ends in September, TV Guide reports. She replaced Couric in 2006 and helped "Today" keep its long-standing No. 1 ranking among the network morning-news shows.
But she has reportedly grown weary of the pre-dawn schedule that "Today" demands and wants to spend more time with her husband, who has battled cancer and multiple sclerosis in recent years. She also has another job, hosting the syndicated game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire."
The network, meanwhile, is hoping to convince Vieira to extend her current deal. "NBC is doing everything they can to convince her to stay," a source tells TV Guide. The Peacock's only official statement is, "The 'Today' show anchors are currently under contract and firmly in place."
Should Vieira depart later this year, "Today" news anchor Ann Curry is likely to be at the top of the list to join Matt Lauer as co-anchor of the show. "Today" regular Natalie Morales, NBC Washington correspondent Savannah Guthrie and CNBC anchor Erin Burnett are other potential candidates, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
And given how the timing of this report coincides with the scuttlebutt at CBS, we imagine Couric's name will pop up as well.

I hope she doesn't leave. If Ann Curry replaces her, I will go to GMA with Robin Roberts. I do not like Curry's interviewing style, with her deep empathetic tone. She is ok delivering the news, but I switch off when she does an interview.
If Meredith leaves I think is the Big Time for Nathalie to be in the top with Matt, Ann and Al. She deserves it. Is beautiful and so profesional.
I hope Meredith doesn;t leave, however it seems as if she's hardly ever there anyway!
My top choice out of those would be Natalie Morales. Erin is too much newsy/serious for a morning show and I do not like Ann Curry's voice. I would switch to GMA as well. However, if Ann Curry doesn't get it, I definitely see her leaving as this will be the 2nd time she has loss the role of co-anchor....
BUT hopefully Meredith STAYS!!
Why isn't anybody speculating that Katie Couric would make a dramatic and triumphant return to "Today?"
