'Doctor Who': Watch 2 clips from Season 6 premiere, 'The Impossible Astronaut'
Season 6 of "Doctor Who" kicks off in mere days. The April 23 two-part premiere, "The Impossible Astronaut," takes the extremely old franchise to American soil for the first time in its history -- and if the cryptic promos aren't enough to get you excited about the launch, these new clips probably will.
BBC (the actual British one) released two snippets from the episode and, without spoiling too much, they sate our "Who" appetite for comedy and crazy-intense drama.
Below, we have a look at the gang's arrival in the American west and a test of wills inside the Tardis -- the latter of which makes us a little nervous about River Song (Alex Kingston).
It's been said for a while now that the mystery of River (the doctor's future bride he's met in the wrong chronology) would finally unfold in Season 6, and with that looming on the horizon, showrunner Steven Moffat has spilled to Doctor Who magazine that one of the four cast members is going die in the premiere.
Our money is on River.* The Doctor (Matt Smith) will clearly make it past the season premiere, and Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) have already been through enough. Also? Since the Doctor hasn't even had his first encounter with River yet, her past self could come into play soon after her death.

Problem with River being the one snuffing it is that she was already killed off in an earlier David Tennant story, so she can't die before she dies. At least, I don't think so. I agree that the one character who is safe is the Doctor, for reasons too obvious to type, and since the BBC has released images of Amy from later episodes in the season, it's not likely her. I have noticed a lack of Rory in a lot of the promos. Yeah, they killed him off once already, but of the four he's the most likely candidate. We'll find out in 10 days!
Yeah, probably not going to be River as we've seen her death. I'm going to go out there and say that the Doctor dies, as in the one we've seen chained up and disheveled looking. Either they are trying to steer him away from his death in the one scene, or I can see this being the moment we come back to when Smith finally regenerates. Imagine knowing when you're going to "die", for all intents and purposes.
I'd agree but River does really die the first time we meet her back with doctor number 10. Sooo, I'm stumped.
I think it i the Doctor as well. I think the really good man River kills is the Doctor, but I think it is a well hatched plan that him and River devise because the situation they found themselves in and to get out of, which River will have to supposedly take the fall for hence lands her in prison for the Doctor's death, even though we know he is not dead.
lord i hope the doctor dies. ive loved every doctor but this one. ive loved every sidekick but amy pond. gosta go otherwise i'm not coming back til it happens.
i reckon it is river because haven't you ever heard the saying 'time can be rewritten' or isn't that one of the major doctor who slogans
